MLG ( Major League Gaming ) is an up coming sport in my opionion it is an upcoming sport what do you think?
I am defending the position that MLG is not a sport --------------------------------------------------- First, i would like to thank Legend for the challenge and i would like to thank all the judges who will be judging this round. Now, by definition a sport is: "an active diversion requiring physical exertion and competition", and just to clarify, Physical Exertion is: "exercise: the activity of exerting your muscles in various ways to keep fit", so therefor the end definition the MLG must meet to be considered a sport is: "An active diversion requiring exertion of your muscles in various ways to keep fit." In no way does Major League Gaming meet this Definition. -These definitions were aquired from a simple google "Define: Sport" and "Define: Physical Exertion" queries I will exabberate on this point. With MLG, the most physical exertion players will get is with their fingers, this does not qualify as the physical exertion that being a sport requires in the definition of sport. Now for the easiest way to define whether or not MLG is a sport, go straight to people who publish the MLG Blog that is located here: http://www.mlgpro.com... this is quoted straight from the MLG blog which is written by several staff members of MLG - "No, professional gaming is not a sport. While it's a viable form of competition and, according to some definitions of the word sport, it's easy to define pro gaming as such, the key to distinguishing viable forms of competition, such as competitive gaming and basketball, from sports is athletic activity. While poker, chess and gaming are viable professional, competitive activities they are dissimilar to sports such as basketball and tennis that require physical exertion. By adding this requirement we make the way we talk about things more clearly defined. The fact that gaming is not a "traditional" sport defines it as something else while not taking away at all from what is has in common with a sport. We classify things as specifically as possible in order to clarify discussion." that is written by Brick from MLGpro.com. If the staff members of MLG agree it is not a sport, it should not be classified as a sport. -AJN0592 |

Not true. there are two other options. Rendering no vote, or rendering a stupid one. :D
