You heard me Creationists! *rolls up sleeves*

*Contentions*

1. Transitional Fossils.

2. Comparative Anatomy.

That's all I will say for now, I'll let my opponent have the first say.

I would first like to thank my opponent for issuing this challenge and look forward to a good debate.

My contention is that the concept of Macroevolution is invalid on the basis that it is part of a false dichotomy.

Evolution need not be split into "Macroevolution" and "Microevolution" because the terms have no rational seperate use. There is only "Evolution".

Having made this contention, I look to my opponent for his rebuttal and will clarify further later on in the debate.

Thank you.

Hm, not exactly the path I was looking for, but fine with me.

"Evolution need not be split into "Macroevolution" and "Microevolution" because the terms have no rational seperate use. There is only "Evolution"."

-->While there isn't a fundamental difference between Macroevolution and Microevolution, there is still a difference between the two. Macroevolution is the scale of evolution above species, while Microevolution within a species or population. This distinction deals with time.

However, there are other ways of Macroevolution. Polyploidy leads to speciation, and speciation only occurs in the scale above species, thus being Macroevolution and not Microevolution.

The only downfall of labeling evolution into two groups such as Macroevolution and Microevolution is that it leads to creationists attacking Macroevolution for being fundamentally different from Microevolution.

I concede this debate and urge the audience to vote for my opponent.

I've learned something new today trying to find an argument against my opponent and am very grateful :) that I did, because I cannot come up with a counterpoint.

Thank you for the debate, and I hope to do this again!

I'm glad that this debate taught you something :D. Brushed up some of my old memory too.

Well you heard my opponent, vote for Pro!

As promised, I forfeit the final round :)

Sorry for ruining a potentially good debate, but again, thank you for bringing up a very important point and one that I shall undoubtedly use in the future.

Vote PRO :P

My points are distributed exactly the same, though for Reliable Sources I left it as a tie.

I have allocated my votes to the debaters in the following ways:

Conduct:

I left tied, because although I forfeited the debate, it was not a technical forfeit via time expiration, and also because I found my opponent's sleeve rolling towards creationists seems unprofessional.

Spelling and Grammar:

I left tied because I felt neither of us had better spelling or grammar than the other.

Convincing Arguments:

I voted PRO because I could not respond to his counterpoint and forfeited because of that.

Reliable Sources:

Though sources were not provided, I allocated the points to PRO because he had a better knowledge base.

I apologize for that :P Midterms + lack of information on my part led to a disappointing debate

I did, however, learn quite a bit when reading up on speciation and polyploidism. It seems to me that I can't argue against my opponent's counterpoint so I would have objectively lost this debate.

You're so silly! God made the world 8000 years ago, and even you silly evolutionists say that's too short of a time for evolution to occur.

Obviously I'm joking. But I might take this debate to see how logically fallacious I can be, while still looking smart. It'll be about as good as if someone who disagreed took this debate.

Reasons for voting decision: Pro explained his position simply, Con conceded gracefully, and my vote count increased. As Michael Scott would say, this is a win-win-win.
