skate boarding is more of a sport than the pole volt. skateboarding consists of more moves than any olympic sport today. people get hurt in it just like very sport.

there isn't really an objective way to score a skateboarding contest, making awarding prizes very difficult. tricks have various styles, etc. and cannot be judged based on difficulty alone. additionally, there are many types of skateboarding (ie: skate park, half-pipe, etc) with various setups. which of these should be included in the olympics? all of them? on what basis do we determine which 'style' of skateboarding is legitimate enough to be covered in the olympics?

instead of including it in the olympics, why not create specialized world-wide competitions for skateboarding and other niche sports, such as the x-games? these events are likely to receive more specialized sponsors, which is essential the continuation of these events. specialized competitions also encourage skateboarding to remain an independent sport--the risk of a skateboarder backlash to uniforms, trainers, agents, and rules is more likely to hurt the sport than to help it.

additionally, olympic committee does not recognize any official international body, which would be required to set up the rules for skateboarding in the olympics, meaning that it is logistically impossible.

lastly, the propensity for injury isn't a good reason to include a particular sport in the olympics.

i think the pipe should be included or something like a slolom because you could compete for the best times then.
