Prohibition has failed to control the use and domestic production of marijuana. The government has tried to use criminal penalties to prevent marijuana use for over 75 years and yet: marijuana is now used by over 25 million people annually, cannabis is currently the largest cash crop in the United States, and marijuana is grown all over the planet. Claims that marijuana prohibition is a successful policy are ludicrous and unsupported by the facts, and the idea that marijuana will soon be eliminated from America and the rest of the world is a ridiculous fantasy. Marijuana has far less "deaths" caused from direct smoking, than that of a Cigarette, but one's federally legal and the other isn't. Marijuana has already proven itself as a great medical tool, Cigarette is smoked->Cigarette causes cancer->Cancer patient receives Medical Marijuana for what the (legal) Cigarettes caused them to have.

This answer would be short and sweet so here it goes
As you have said and used the term at the end I quote "cancer patient recives MEDICAL Marijuana" there are various forms of Marijuana in the world. Some types are harmful to health while others are benificial to health but even these Medical Marijuana have their own side effects which can't be seen in the short term but over a period of time will the effects be visible. Heroin is also an illegal drug all over the world but the thing is and only if a patient's life depends on it Heroin is used to save his/hers life as it acts as a pain-killer. Marijuana is given to the patient shall he/she be having a stage 4 cancer or has no other medications left. There the same thing as heroin once you inject(or eat) it in any way your blood cells get addicted to it on the first go which causes a chemical change in your body which makes it yearn for more.
Plus Marijuana is not used as a medical drug to treat cancer from 'http://www.drugfreeworld.org...' I quote "Marijuana smoke contains 50% to 70% more cancer-causing substances than tobacco smoke. One major research study reported that a single cannabis joint could cause as much damage to the lungs as up to five regular cigarettes smoked one after another. Long-time joint smokers often suffer from bronchitis, an inflammation of the respiratory tract."
So here is my end of debate your turn please

Before accepting this challenge, I need to know in what sense legal is to be defined as? Also what about age and other restrictions?

If undefined this debate could easily derail into a game of "that's not how I define legal."

Oh the pro side may want to look up Surgeon General statements about it over the years, there was a classic one back in the days of alcohol prohibition.
