Jordan has many achievements. But he has not faced the same level of competition as Bryant; today"s players are more athletic, versatile and talented than in the 80"s or 90"s. Bryant has had to adapt to this environment, which makes him a better basketball player.
Jordan played in an era full of legends and people who've won multiple rings such as Larry Bird & Magic Johnson. In Jordan's era there were much less rules and the defense was much tougher back then. What was a regular foul back then may be a flagrant foul today. Plus Jordan's era had some of the most skilled big men to ever play from David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon etc. These centers anchored some of the toughest defenses ever.
Bryant came into the NBA with a better jump shot than Jordan. He adapted the fade away early in his career, he also worked on his post- game and learned moves Jordan never had in his offense. Bryant has guarded the best players one on one for most of his career and has shut them down. Jordan had Pippen to guard the bigger and faster players. Bryant became a leader and mentor to his team at a much earlier than Jordan. Bryant has played some of the best basketball of his career with injuries, and it is scary to think how much better he would have been had been healthy. Bryan"s ability to adapt and overcome make him a better basketball player.
