Con

Mitt Romney had several positions as a senator in Maryland which he didn't follow through with. He is a chameleon trying to pave a golden path for his wall street buddies and he was a share holder in a company which shipped jos over seas. Good try Mitt, maybe never again? Please.

Like Con, this also is my first debate on DDO. As such, he doesn't appear to be interested in having a real, intelligent debate himself but instead just wants the rights to vote on other member's debates. I, on the other hand, am interested in having a real debate and want to earn my voting rights, so I will do my best to respond to his "argument" and adress the topic "Mitt Romney, why did he lose?".

Rebuttal:
First off, Mitt Romney was the governor of Massachusetts, not a senator from Maryland. Con doesn't specify any positions he had that he didn't follow through with, so this point is completely unsubstantiated. Furthermore, whether he was a shareholder in company that shipped jobs overseas or not is irrelevant, unless he can somehow show that it cost him the election. I will offer a much more sensible explanation for Mitt Romney's loss below.

My argument:
There are several apparent reasons why Romney lost the election.
1.
Swing states
Barack Obama gathered the majority vote in most key swing states like Colorado, Ohio and Virginia. (1) Romney needed to carry those states to have enough electoral votes to win.

2. Minority Vote
Obama was able to secure the minority vote by wide margffwffwwins. He recieved an overwhelming 93% of African-Americans' votes, 71% of the Hispanic vote andaew 73% of Asian vote. (2)

3. People still blame Bush for eonomic problems
The economy is the most important issue to voters, according to a CNN exit poll. (3)On the campaign trail, Obama's first line of defense on his economic record has been to blame his administration's shortfalls on the policies from former president Bush and the "giant mess" he "inherited". This rhetoric has been resonated by the main-stream media for years. Even though Bush has been out of office since 2009, a majority of voters STILL hold Bush, not President Obama, responsible for the shape of the economy! (4) This is another disadvantage Romney had going into the election.

Wrap-up:
Con made little effort to put forth a substantive argument in R1. Despite his apparent trolling, I have adequately rebutted his feeble explanation as well as provided my own contentions for for Mitt Romney's loss in the election. Vote Pro.

Thank you.

Romney lost because he was a turd, incapable of going after Obama as much as he should have.

You are calling Mitt Romney advocates liberal pansies? Are you kidding me? Liberal? That would be Obama and his party. I think you need to do a little research.

Reasons for voting decision: I'm not even sure what was being debated in this. The only reason I'm bombing for Pro is that Con has the rudest behaviour I've yet seen on DDO, and basically did nothing. This debate was orchestrated for voting privileges, not to debate something.
