I believe that modern personal technology is more harmful than beneficial because most kids would rather stay on their phones, computers, or watch T.V. other than play a game, sport, or spend time with their families.
Technology is also bad because of social media. Young kids don't need to be on it but they still do. For teenagers especially theres cyberbullying which leads to suicide. Plus young kids on social media is even worse when people post inappropriate pictures or videos. Theres also identity theft and when your kid gets so addicted to a game they take a parents credit card or money and spend it. That leads to getting video games taken away which a lot of people rage at.
One of the most important things for keeping safe is the camera. If someone/hackers figures out your phone or computers PIN number through the camera they can spy on you and even stalk you down.
My last reason is people get so caught up in phonecalls or texting or video games while their driving they end up crashing and alot of deaths happen each year cause by technology while driving. People even get so addicted to their video games they forget everything about the whole real world around them and only care about their fantasy worlds on their phones.

Oi mate top of the morning to you lad, I'd like to thank you for submitting a very interesting topic to debate on. First things first some points you made, i happen to actually agree on, texting and driving, cyber-bullying. however as a con i shall attempt to go against every point you happen to have.

Modern technology has been beneficial to, mostly everyone in the world, looking at everything their it just prove how much technology benefit humanity. Today's generation is heavily into tech, as you said yourself "most kids would rather stay on their phones, computers, or watch T.V. other than play a game, sport, or spend time with their families." true it seems most of the time kids pay more attention to there phones, i wouldn't blame them, the question is why? Their are many reasons why, they do so, an article here explains how kids are effected by emotional states persevered by their parents https://my.vanderbilt.edu... some or most (plz note I don't speak on everyone's behalf these situations have happen to others before, this may or may not apply to you in your experience in life) kids experience have this emotional absences, most of the time technology helps these kids co-op with that absences including, also how to handle the cause that effects them in a negative way, with that also helping them co-op they can help others that maybe facing a similar situation.

Suicide is something serious however in my opinion, i don't see it to be such a negative thing as for the most part. People who does this action it's because, of an negative cause. anyways i believe the causes of suicide from tech is simply just a part that benefits the bully, most suicides in my opinion are caused from a person they know or multiple people, this here shows the percent of suicide and bullying http://www.meganmeierfoundation.org....

When it comes to media i can't really say if that it's a good or bad thing it plays in both parts, and on the person themselves to decide either it's ethical or not. As I said before " kids experience have this emotional absences, most of the time technology helps these kids co-op with that absences including, also how to handle the cause that effects them in a negative way, with that also helping them co-op they can help others that maybe facing a similar situation." however, media has some things. that they consider bad, yet everyone has their own views on what's being pretested on media.

Being hack is an very unlikely scenario those who blast themselves on media with their first, and last name could easily be hack, a youtuber who goes by grade a under a talks about hacking i recommend watching the video.

As it isn't a good idea to use your phone and drive, it isn't that big of a deal people make it out to be, now don't think about actually going out and drive while you're on the phone. At a rate approximately 3000 and more people die a year http://safety.trw.com... as it isn't that big but it's still bad. People will always die from everywhere to anywhere, drown, shot, stabbed, virus, and many more.

Video games are not much of a problem, this depends more on the kid and parent, believe me or not but theirs geeks, nerds, gamers, and so on these people have their own community, no they aren't taking over the world, people just see most of them in the media.

First of all about modern technology yes video games are a problem because they rot peoples brains and give bad influences like GTA is a horrible influence. There are bad words inappropriate scenes and it leads to suicide or killing and robbing other people. Not to mention alot about hijacking but... Also Xboxes and phones and computers heat up as a sign that you've been using it for too long but most people just ignore it and sooner or later it blows up.
To mention texting which has led to many car accidents a year because people can't stop talking to their friends online and instead why not just meet up at a diner or someones house or something simple without using technology. For example (according to Matt Richtel Christopher Hill's life changed forever on September 3rd 2008. Hills, then 20, was driving his Ford Ranger down a busy street in Oklahoma City and talking on his cellphone when he ran 50 miles past a red light and crashed into Lynda Doyle's small SUV. A few days later they found Christopher dead in the hospital.

There are bad words inappropriate scenes and it leads to suicide or killing and robbing other people. Not to mention alot about hijacking", Now that there is quite a big claim you made there as though that, it may sound like the most reasonable and logical explanation, study proofs it to be wrong http://www.healthline.com... this article here shows why your claim is wrong, and how it actually benefits the child. Kids actually have morals and their own judgement, kids have their own perspective on actions of others, and themselves, because they see something on a game doesn't mean they'll act like that character, or become violent, yes i do believe his/her will idealize their thoughts, but not action.

"Also Xboxes and phones and computers heat up as a sign that you've been using it for too long but most people just ignore it and sooner or later it blows up." Yes techs do blow up yet rarely this article explains http://lancasteronline.com.... This actual depends how the persons life is, if it's only possible for them only use the tech they only us tech, if people buy tech that heats up after a little use it's no good, people who are successful yet use tech 24/7 and live a non miserable life tech isn't in too much use, this all depends on the symmetrical output, and input you give yourself.

Their will always be reckless drivers out in the street from drunk diving to the person on their phone, it isn't techs fault it's the persons who values a message over the safety of others and themselves,

I don't agree with Pro only for one reason, I have clinical depression and social media is what's kept me going throughout the years. I find people that have the same problems as me and I make friends. Of course that's only one perk to it that I know of.
