1. Money is made out of paper, which is from trees which breathes in carbon dixocide and releases oxygen.
2. Money is also bad because they can spread diseases from a sick person to another person.
3. Trees are helpful because they provide oxygen, shade, and mudslides. Without this, there will be mudslides from rain. Which is why money is cutting these trees and having more mudslides.
4. Money is just a plain old currency which you also need ink too.
5. Some people just give paper money to a buisness or something just trying to keep his real money.
I thank whoever joins this debate with only one argument.

Thank you for starting this debate.

"1. Money is made out of paper, which is from trees which breathes in carbon dixocide and releases oxygen."
From this source (http://www.buzzle.com...), "Even though the dollar bill is called "paper money," the material it is printed on isn't actually paper. It's actually fabric, a blend of cotton and linen, with minute silk fibers of red and blue running through the weave."
Money is not made out paper, which automatically refutes your point.

"2. Money is also bad because they can spread diseases from a sick person to another person."
If you think that this is bad, wear gloves when handling money. Problem solved. Besides, anything can spread diseases from one sick person to another. Money is no exception. Sterilize your dollar bills, if you really think it is that bad. Because it isn't. Do you have any proof of a disease epidemic spreading through money?

"3. Trees are helpful because they provide oxygen, shade, and mudslides. Without this, there will be mudslides from rain. Which is why money is cutting these trees and having more mudslides."
This is irrelevant, because dollar bills are not made out of paper.

"4. Money is just a plain old currency which you also need ink too."
That does not make money bad. Money is a medium of exchange for a society run by a government so as to allow for more ease in trade and commerce. http://en.wikipedia.org...

"5. Some people just give paper money to a buisness or something just trying to keep his real money."
"Paper" money is just as real as "real" money, as it is a Federal Reserve Note enforced by the Treasury and by the federal government. http://en.wikipedia.org...

Now, here is why money is good:

1. It allows for comparison of values of different objects.
If we had no money system, we'd live in a trading society, where to obtain what you wanted, you'd have to go through trade. Therefore, you wouldn't know if the TV that you want is really worth the value of your golf clubs. Money allows people to assign values to objects, so that you'd know if it was really a good deal.
2. Not everyone wants to trade everything.
If you were to go into the store, and say, "I'd like that red paperclip", the shop owner'd say, "Only if you could get me a fish pen."
"But a fish pen is worth more than a red paperclip!"
"So? You're the one who needs the paperclip."
So you go out to find a fish pen, but the hobo who has one wants a doorknob. Angry, you go in search of a doorknob. The doorknob man wants a Coleman stove, which is worth much more than a doorknob, but you are determined to get that red paperclip, so you pay a visit to Coleman, who wants a generator. The generator guy wants an instant party. The party man wants a snowmobile. The Eskimo wants a trip to Yahk. The airline manager wants a cube truck. The truck driver wants a recording contract. The record manager wants a timeshare in Phoenix. The house owner wants to spend an afternoon with Alice Cooper. Alice Cooper wants a fancy snowglobe. The snowglobe man wants to be an actor. Steven Spielberg wants your house.
"Yes!" you exclaim. "Finally, someone wants something that I actually have!"
So you trade for the Hollywood role, to trade for the snowglobe, to trade for the afternoon with Alice Cooper, to trade for the timeshare in Phoenix, to trade for the recording contract, to trade for the cube truck, to trade for the trip to Yahk, to trade for the snowmobile, to trade for the instant party, to trade for the generator, to trade for a Coleman stove, to trade for a doorknob, to trade for the fish pen.
Then as you walk into the store, you see another guy trading a fish pen for the red paperclip, and you just realize that you just wasted your entire afternoon losing your house for a fish pen.
This is similar to the story "One Red Paperclip" (http://oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com...), but in this case, instead of abusing the system, the system abused you.

Thus, money is good, and not bad, because it allows for a medium of exchange so that you don't go spending so much effort to trade your house for a red paperclip.

Thank you for reading.

Actually, it depends on the use. Using drugs to cure people is good. Using drugs to kill people is not.

arcticanticsdebater, I want to challenge you to something.

Challenge me to a one-round debate, with any resolution you please, as long as it isn't a proven fact, and does not involve either of our personal lives. I will accept that debate. Let's see what happens.

Actual, most money exists only as account balance entries that is never embodied in printed currency. Some money is metal, either circulating or kept in vaults. Money would exist if all circulating currency were abolished. Consumers could use smart cards that transfer balances. Pro's arguments are really not relevant to money only, to circulating bills.

Accepting Pro's definition, there was no supporting data that any of the arguments he made were significant drawbacks compared to the advantages. For example, if Pro showed that tens of thousands of people died as a consequence of disease from circulating currency, he might have a case. He provided no such evidence for any of this points.

Milton Friedman said something along the lines of:
"Only government can take perfectly good paper, cover it with perfectly good ink, and make the combination worthless".
