Taken from some earlier debates I happened to gaze upon, that looked rather fun!

So.. basically we're going to be sharing music we found beautiful and/or inspiring. This means that it doesn't necessarily need to be popular music.

Also, you must give reason to why you're presenting the select song, and feel free to comment on songs shared!

Limit this game: 1-2 songs per round (excluding R1 since it's agreeing to debate terms) Please respect all music shared as everyone has their own individual tastes

If the song is in another language do provide translations as well. Overall just have fun and enjoy ^-^!

Hey, thanks for having this challenge, I hope I can expose you to some music that you may not have heard before, or give you that "YEAH THAT SONG IS AWESOME/WONDERFUL!" or expose me to a piece of music that I haven't heard before.

(Sorry about making the round reply length so long, but I'm looking forward to experiencing and sharing music as well! Thank you for accepting)
Below the song is in Spanish, and while yes it is from a Disney movie, I feel like the Spanish version just has so much more emotion to the words.

Sigo Aqui - Alex Ubago

This is just the English version:

Response: I have never heard the Spanish version before, I've watch treasure planet a few times... I laugh just because the song is catchy and has a great hook, its also a very 90's song.

My response specifically to your song would be Titan AE's "Cosmic Castaway" By Electrasy

https://www.youtube.com...

90s awesomeness... but I digress

My opening volley's in this battle of aural pleasure with a song I have performed before:

"Carnival of Venice" Variations on a theme by Jean-Baptiste Arban. Specifically as performed by Winton Marsalis.

https://www.youtube.com...

What is essentially the origination of what in the modern lexicon we refer to as covers, variations on a theme utilize a typically simple melody and modify the melody (usually with greater complexity) to produce a transformation work of art. In Arban's variations on a theme, the song was developed as a song that culminated after rigorous study of trumpet technique (see the Arban technique), and showcases the mastery of the instrument in its successful performance.

As a follow up to the concept of the variations on a theme, we dial the era back a few years with:

Twelve Variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman." Composed by Wolfgang Mozart. You may know the melody better under the modern incarnation "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"

A simple melody transformed into such complexity that inspires what creativity is capable of.

I'll have to look into the movie! Seems very interesting.

I thoroughly enjoyed "Carnival of Venice", the song itself gives a wonderful depiction of a Carnival in Venice.

I've taken a few music classes, and even a bit of jazz classes as well. It is always interesting to see where one can go with a simple melody, to derive from the original and change it in some way. I remember an example we were given in Jazz class of a form of free style Jazz, and parts of the melody were inspired from Mary Had a Little Lamb.

While not as classic as the songs you have provided, the next song does take the idea that simplicity can be beauty as well.

Cranes - K56

Also since we're on a classical turn, while a more recent composer, I believe, is still going on the simple melody, while a bit more complex as there are other instruments.

This next song is from an anime, with English translation provided within the video, but I wanted to share this song because of the impact the lyrics have. I'm not just speaking about the difference in vocal voice like shared in my previous response, but rather the meaning to the lyrics. There's a radio voice that speaks, while I know nothing of the anime that this song is from, I do know that the voice speaks about the bombing of Hiroshima.

Perhaps you two could participate in your own competition as well if you're interested! Thank you both for sharing though ^ ^
@DI0GENES, I find that Christian music shares odd parallels at times with country music, that's just my opinion though.
@jakabus, not much for rock/metal? And the first one you suggested it was very hard to find a good version of it on YouTube, but none the less, thank you for sharing as well!

1) one love by p.o.d. - For its beautiful sound and meaning in the lyrics as well as its fun to play on the drums
2) shadow of a man by mudvayne - purely for its creative lyrics and imaginative theme/story (their singing about a mirror image)
