Let's see if we have a defender for Sherlock Holmes' theory.
soul-the spiritual or immaterial part of a human being or animal, regarded as immortal.

Thank you my friend For challenging me on this debate in this New One . You said Music is separate than all humans soul Ithink you are wrong. Music moves people of all cultures, in a way that doesn"t seem to happen with other animals. Nobody really understands why listening to music " which, unlike sex or food, has no intrinsic value " can trigger such profoundly rewarding experiences.A poet tells us the soul "comes from afar trailing clouds of glory," and many musical composers have endeavored to inspire us with their perception of the refining process of earth life. Music is a subtle, suggestive medium of communication, inevitably open to many interpretations depending upon the interpreters, their thought patterns and cultural heritage. Profoundly devotional natures, whatever their backgrounds, would be bound to "tune in" upon the music of the spheres, and experience deep within themselves the moving contact of the outer self with the inner soul or spirit. Music itself does not know the barriers built into the many languages and dialects we have. It leaps over all cultural patterns, transmitting its own inherent meaning, regardless of the mental prisms that color the impacts. Though no two people may feel the identic reactions, the effects take place, whether it is a rhythmic response in the lesser part of ourselves, or the depths of the soul or spirit that are affected in a way that is beyond words to describe. Our human minds and of course you gonna think of our soul gets moved by listening music and ou emotions get out.

No, I disagree that music has a connection to all human's soul as music is a man-made invention, meaning there was a time when man lived without music. Furthermore, there are some people like me who dislike music. The resolution requires that all humans' like music. Plus, it isn't necessary that our likes and dislikes connect with our soul. Our likes/dislikes would have to be extremely strong to form any connection with the soul, if it exists. Not everyone is a diehard fan of music. Would my soul have a connection with the transformers just because I like them?
Music, like everything else, belongs to this material world, and nothing can connect with the immaterial soul. While all cultures have some or the other type of music, it isn't necessary that everyone likes it. Music may connect with our brain, our mind, our emotions, but it can't connect with our soul. Why? Because music belongs to this world, and as time passes, it too evolves.

Music and brain are like a two side of a coin . One cannot exist with the other. This is my simple one line argument.

Pro hasn't justified how music can connect with the soul, nor he has given a rebuttal to my arguments.
Albert Einstein and other geniuses weren't musicians, were they? The music and the brain's relation is a bare assertion, and it doesn't pertain to the resolution, for the brain is not the soul.
Plus, do you mean to imply that before the invention of music, man lacked a brain? From what we know about the human race, there wasn't a time when we lacked such a fundamental organ in our structure. Even the smallest of animals have a brain, and show elementary signs of intelligence. I argue that the practices of hunting, farming, building shelter and using fire had started much before the invention of music, and these activities require intelligence.
Plus, if I like transformers to the extreme, doesn't mean that it will connect with my soul. The soul is the immaterial part of our human body (according to the definition), and no things material will be able to connect with it. Sounds, smells, sights are all part of the material world.
As Pro hasn't rebutted any of my arguments yet, vote for con.

Philosophy of music is the study of fundamental questions about the nature of music and our experience of it.Music plays a central role in many people's lives.Music is perhaps the art that presents the most philosophical puzzles. Music's emotional expressivity is a philosophical problem since the paradigm expressers of emotions are psychological agents, who have emotions to express. Neither pieces of music, nor performances of them, are psychological agents, thus it is puzzling that such things could be said to express emotions. There is a saying by Heinrich Heine that "Where words leave off, music begins." . thus Music has always been a matter of Energy to us , a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. we have always needed Fuel. Most of us are a serious consumer. On some nights we still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Music is the soul criterion behind the success of so called development of human beings. As Con has not showed his sufficient conclusion to end this debate , vote for con.....................

Reasons for voting decision: Con argues that music is not connected to man's soul because there was a time man existed without music. Pro says music and man are like "2 sides of a coin" but that doesn't answer Con's point. Pro must prove why music is part of the soul without just repeating that it is. Pro says music is a profound part of culture and the spirit. Con says that just because music is a byproduct of the brain doesn't mean it's connected to the soul which may be 2 distinct things. He also suggests some people are not connected to music and have different inspirations or connections (like science) which Pro did not respond to.
