My Little Pony is a well written show in many respects.

First off the show is constant in each character. Each character plays a roll and are always in character. This does not mean a character does not change over the course of a time. The characters evolve as the show progresses. Much unlike other shows such as family guy, new episodes of the Simpsons, everything on cartoon network for the most part ect, in MLP episodes build off each other. For example, when we look at rarity in the first few episodes she was one of the most uptight characters imaginable, very neat and very proper. Although she still can be quite dramatic, she has learned to get over things such as getting her hooves messy for a friend. Each Character goes through an ARC in which they must realize their shortcomings and have to grow as a character with help of their friends.

I will admit, the story is kinda cheesy, but overall it does spread a good message that a person of any age can appreciate. Besides the obvious moral of the story which is recited at the end of the show, there are other elements of the show that reflect the real world in a nice way. Such as kid's are pricks and that you shouldn't try to fit in with other people if they don't like you for who you are, and instead you should be friends with people who accept you. It is a well known fact the viewers of the show are well outside the range of the targeted audience pulling in the 16-35ish male audience. This is due to no simple feat, the writing and the jokes of the show are both witty and fresh. The show references many different movies such as the ending of starwar's a new hope.

Every good story requires protagonist(s) and an antagonist(s), the struggle between the two, with the protagonist usually being victorious. Generally, the stronger the conflict, the more interesting the story is. In My Little Pony(FiM), the conflict mostly occurs among the same few ponies every single episode as over 50% of the conflict is internal. For example in Ep2 of season 2, Twilight is seen as a brave friend fighting for friendship. In the next episode however, Twilight becomes desperate trying to submit her report on friendship to Princess Celestia that she began to CREATE problems just so she can fix them, proving that she has learned something about friendship. This episode can be seen as the turning point of the entire show. Throughout the entire season one, the audience sees Twilight as the strong protagonist and the leader of the legion of friendship. Little did that know that Twilight's primary motivation came not from friendship itself but from her devotion to Princess Celestia. In many episodes beforehand, Twilight has been noted to consider herself the special and faithful student of Princess Celestia. Although she seems quite normal in all of the previous episodes, her true self is shown in the episode "Lesson Zero" when she troubles her friends in order to prove to Princess Celestia that she has learned a lesson. Throughout the entire episode, her time is ticking down as her deadline to submit a report to Princess Celestia draws near. As the episode progresses, her demeanor beings to mirror that of a deprived drug addict as she goes crazy in order to order to obtain her drug(loyalty to Princess Celestia). At first she portrays the image of a beggar, looking for someone to help in order to document her knowledge of false friendship. As the episode progresses, she begins to become desperate and starts to create problems in order to solve them(similar to how a deprived drug addicts robs a bank). At the end of the episode when Princess Celestia comes to have a personal talk with Twilight, the first thing she confesses is her absence of a report, her duty as a student of Princess Celestia. She didn't even bother confessing to the fact that she casted the imperious curse on half of Ponyville. Only when Princess Celestia reassures her that she is not a bad student and only needs to write a report when necessary does Twilight "come to realization" that friendship is more important than anything else. In the end, the motive of Twilight is still questionable. A main character in every well written story requires a strong main character with well defined traits. The action and thoughts of the main character is usually not hidden from the audience as the viewer prefers to be omniscient. Therefore a weak character such as Twilight only goes to show that the characters have weak values and that the audience is unable to fully depend on a single character should a crisis ensue. With the lack of strong characters comes the lack of a strong main goal of the story and nothing for the audience to really look forward to. In the end, each episode of My Little Pony(FiM) becomes quite spontaneous and one could easily watch a random episode and understand most of what is going on. The events in the show have been clearly watered down for the the younger female audience who probably would not watch every single episode and would not retain everything they see even if they did. Basically, watching the show requires little to know thinking. Similarly, not much thought was put into writing the storyline of the show.

The reason the show attracts 16-35 year old male audience is not because they find the show entertaining, but because they twist the material in the show to make it entertaining to themselves.

You acknowledged that the story is cheesy, meaning that the show is not very entertaining to watch. Entertaining refers to the joy throughout watching the show. If the only enjoyable part is at the end of every episode, it's not very entertaining.

"Besides the obvious moral of the story which is recited at the end of the show, there are other elements of the show that reflect the real world in a nice way. An adult would obviously know not to hang around people who don't like them. It would not be in their interest to watch a 20ish minute cheesy show trying to get that point across.

I, on the other hand, l do blame and/or judge you as bad. You pointed out (one) fact about how bad the show is. Yet you still delude your self, like all bronies do, into believing the show is good. While I have never thought about what you said about that episode specifically in season two the episodes that do prove that it is bad (and the episodes that don't exist) DO in fact prove the show is bad.

Nightmare night

Ponyville Confidential

Canterlot Wedding

Those three eps alone show how horrible the show is.

I actually don't blame you or judge you as bad at all, MLP: FiM is definitely by far the best show ever.
