I'll post one of my poetry pieces and you post one of yours per round, this is a competition. I don't mind what kind of poetry we use. I look forward to this debate.
Blade-of-Truth

Con

I accept, and assume that each poem will be our own original work. I despise plagiarism.

Best of luck to you! I look forward to this fun and entertaining challenge :)

Also, since you gave no restrictions, one of my poems is totally gonna be about my cats. Just saying.
Debate Round No. 1

Pro

I look forward to this debate/contest with you, con. Cats seem like a great poetry topic for one of your poems. c: Good Luck!
I should tell you that some of my poems are dark and sad, but that only makes them more interesting.

Jane Shame
My name is Jane,
Shame, shame, shame!

I see scars on my face,
I hear voices in my head,
My eyes are fire-ry red.
Everywhere I look, nothing is right.
The sun is burning! Turn off the light. .

My eyes are red,
my skin is so pale,
My mind is dark, don't ask me how I feel.

The voices in my mind repeat to me,
There's may be no god, there may be no heaven,
And the only hell is the one you're living.
Blade-of-Truth

Con

My love,

I know not where you are, but I feel you close
an endless chase, for an invisible ghost
They say be patient, do not wait in haste
but how could I not? For you are my time and space

I can see you so clear, when I close my eyes
no more living in fear, no more masks or disguise
I can hear your laugh, as we cheers for our toast
we will have a beautiful wedding, my invisible ghost

We shall dance under the stars, and kiss under the moon
we will create life and love, and inspire flowers to bloom
I will build you your dream house, right off the coast
I will love you always and forever, my invisible ghost

And when we grow older, I will never leave your side
you are my joy, my happiness, my life, and my pride
someday when I die, God will ask who I loved the most
I'll look in his eye, and reply, my invisible ghost

'Never Give Up'

At the end of the day, we can only say
that we tried our very hardest
No time for laughter, or time for play
we must reap what we sow from our harvest

With food on the table, it's time for a fable
so gather around as I tell my tale
for there is a story about a man in a stable
who one night heard a terrible gale

It was a cold winter night, no-one was in sight
a forgettable evening up north
a man came to a site, and oh what a fright
he was met with a scary unknown force

"I am the devil" he heard the force say
"I've come to steal your soul"
and as quick as a whip, the man started to sit
and said, "but how did I become that goal?"

"You've gotten lazy and fat, you barely try at all!"
The devil said unto him
"You're the perfect example of a wasted soul"
Then the devil let out a grin

"How about a bet?" The man said to the Devil
I'll challenge you to a drink
The devil did meet this man on the level
and was met with a vile of stink

The man let out a smile, said "stay for a while"
and poured the devil his drink
the devil took a sip, and started to trip
and felt as his heart began to sink

The man then said, "you aren't the first guest to visit"
"For one time this preacher passed by, a squatter"
and in return for letting him stay
he blessed that vile as holy water

I don't mind, but I'm pretty sure the judges will take points from you for forfeiting.

Would you mind if I posted my cat poem still, or would you like for me to keep my last round empty and just let people vote on our 1st round poems? I'll let you decide since you're the one who started the debate.

Also, what'd you think of my poem? I thought that some love would balance your darkness :)

Reasons for voting decision: Conduct- FF S&G - shared. I'll let the "There's may" from Pro slip for now. Poems- Pro's poem was short, but interesting. Con's poem however, flowed in a whole different way. The first was solemn and sweet, the second was just amazing, and wins the debate. I love the dialogue and 'banter' within it, and the twist at the end was just fantastic. I like the idea of Con using God and spiritual beings in both his poems. Very well done to both of you.

Reasons for voting decision: Voting on request. Con must get conduct points for Pro's round forfeit. I felt that Con's poems spoke on a deeper level and were more original, whereas Pro's was a bit more cliche (not that it was cliche). I also thought that Con's prose was more flowery, hence why I am voting for Con.

Reasons for voting decision: With the one poem Pro gave in his round vs. Con, I felt Cons flowed a lot smoother, even though I considered Pro's good too. Overall, the poems were very interesting, however, I feel both of Con's poems were well thought out and written. Nicely done. *raises glass*

Reasons for voting decision: FF. Con has better rhythm especially for the Never Give Up. Also, the poem written by Con matches its title more and I found Con's one is a bit more meaningful. Pro is quite good too. It is a hard one.
