Do you think Obama Care should be gotten rid of? I for one think it is possibly the worst thing Obama came up with it and believe it doesn't work the majority of the time. People want a quick and easy way to get their medicare and healthcare. Obama Care obviously failed to accomplish that goal.

I accept this debate.

Since Con has not given an adequate debate title will I assume I am "FOR" the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act 2010 (USA) commonly referred to as Obamacare and that it has a positive influence and effect on society in the US.
Firstly, before proving Obamacare a positive advancement in US politics and society, I will prove beyond a doubt that Obamacare is not ""the worst thing Obama came up with..." by pointing you to several decisions and actions by Mr. Obama that, to the reasonable person, are more destructive and negative than Obamacare. For instance, the indefinite detention of suspected terrorists by the military [1]. This has been argued as a violation of American due process [2]. Which, in itself is contrary to the 5th Amendment of the American Constitution[3] (which will be referred to now as simply "the Constitution") Next, is the warrantless surveillance of American citizens[4] that is not only a breach of privacy which is also a breach of the American Bill of Rights [5] which, through the 1st Amendment of the Constitution, the president swears to protect in the presidential oath. If this still isn"t enough for you, Obama has the power (and has used it) to assassinate American citizens overseas [6]. This is done in breach of the 6th Amendment, where all US citizens have a right to trial by jury [7]. For further information, the Constitution is ""a piece a body of fundamental principles or established precedents according to which a state or other organization is acknowledged to be governed."" That is why it is important to note the violations of this legal document.

Now onto the main point: Obamacare has a positive effect on society and in general. There are several reasons why Obamacare is "good".

Firstly, Obamacare is closing the gap between upper and lower classes in terms of health. For example, "Millions of uninsured people will get access to affordable and quality healthcare" [8]. "More than HALF of uninsured Americans can get FREE or low cost health insurance [8]. This healthcare was predominantly only available for middle and upper class citizens who could afford it. This theme is continued when "Medicaid is expanded up to 15.9 million men, women and children below 138% of the poverty level" [8].

Secondly, the Act is designed to reduce the US budget deficit by $143 billion over the next 10 years [9]. This will be done by increased taxes on the upper classes and "shifting cost burdens onto healthcare providers and pharmacy companies".

Lastly, the Act protects children from being refused coverage for pre-existing medical conditions by insurance companies, and protects clients from being denied coverage once they get sick [9].

In conclusion, all of these points show a generally positive effect of Obamacare on society, namely, the bridging of the gap between rich and poor, the repair of the budget deficit and the protection of the nations youth.
