In this debate my opponent must prove that Obama isn't the first black president. If he cannot do so, then I win.
President Obama is not a "black man" as you so claim. He is in fact mulatto. According to the Oxford dictionary a mulatto is a person of mixed white and black ancestry, especially a person with one white and one black parent. [1] According to my definition is he can not be considered a black man because his parents are black and white. Vote Con! [1]http://oxforddictionaries.com... |

The definition of a black person is " a person with dark skin who comes from Africa (or whose ancestors came from Africa)." Obama both has dark skin and his ancestors came from Africa. Therefore, he is a black man.

I will first attack your definition by stating that "black person" is not a type more of a slur. The correct term is African American which is exactly what the name suggests. My opponent claims that his ancestors have arrived from Africa, I ask for proof. His skin color is also not "black" it is more related to a tan or light skin, which by your definition disqualifies him. According to the Oxford Dictionary a "black person" does not exist. Thanks to 500 limit I must end. |

My opponent asks for proof of whether or not Obama's ancestors came from Africa. However, my opponent provided my proof for me. He said that Obama's father was black, implying that his ancestors came from Africa, and since a father is technically an ancestor, then Obama's ancestors came from Africa.
My opponent also said that Obama's skin color isnt black, but tan. I agree with this. However, my definition refers to a person with dark skin. And my opponent admitted that he in fact has dark skin
"Obama's skin color isnt black, but tan." Dark - not reflecting much light; approaching black in shade [1] "I agree with this" Tan - …a yellowish-brown color… [1] Thus refuting his claim. "implying that his ancestors came from Africa," Ah yes using my own definition on me, good move. Sadly thought it is just the politically correct term. Without any ancestry tree proof provided you may not make that claim. Assumptions are not answers. Vote Con! [1] Oxford Dictionary |

Reasons for voting decision: Mulatto is an offensive term. Do not use it to describe someone. Half-black and Mixed race are acceptable alternatives. The 500 word limit severely hurt the possibility of real arguments, but Con used it better and had fewer run-on sentences.

Reasons for voting decision: Con dismantled this simplistic argument hands down.
Also, there are a lot of black people in the world who do not have African heritage.. most of the Caribbean Islands are inhabited with people much darker skinned than some African persons. (Jamaica particularly.)
Also, in debate, Pro has the burden of proof unless there are extenuating circs. Pro tried to shift this Con and basically sit back for the easy win. Major foul.

Reasons for voting decision: Nice job Con, I had assumed you were going to argue president of something else. Pro, you could have taken this with more effort.

Reasons for voting decision: CON contradicts herself. PRO proves that Obama meets the criteria for a black person.

Reasons for voting decision: This was a rather confusing debate, more of semantics really, but points go to con for more convincing arguments.

Reasons for voting decision: Con dominated Pro with evidence and argument. I also laughed a lot.

I almost cried at the majesty and wonder of this amazing refutation.
By definition no I validated my point. You called him black and while agreeing he is tan.
Sorry it is a habit. Picking apart a argument is what I like to do.
"Even with Con's argument being wrong, Barack Obama was not the first black president."
United States President yes. President in another country or means nope.
