Many people on another site, are claiming that Obama's new gun regulations are against 2nd Amendment rights. However, I don't believe this at all.

Obamas new executive order is against the second amendment because it restricts the ability for people to buy guns and it makes the government in control of who buys and sells guns.

The government has been in control of who buys guns as long as we have been alive. It was in the early 1930's that the first federal regulations was put on gun ownership. The new regulations the Obama put in place were:
- To sell a firearm you must be licensed to do so, and must conduct a background check on the buyer.
- Putting in place 200 more ATF agents to assist in background checks along with trying to regulate illegal firearms trafficking.
- Increase mental health treatment, along with reporting such illnesses during a background check so someone who has major 'specific' mental health issues can not obtain a gun.
- Further research into smart gun technology

Before these regulations, anyone could walk up to a private seller at a gun show and obtain a gun. These regulations will prevent a felon, or a documented psychopath from walking up and buying a gun. Though they will still be able to obtain through the black market, this is just a small step to prevent this from happening. These regulations will not effect you from walking into a store and purchasing a gun. If one is legally able to purchase a gun, they will still have the right. If they are a felon, or has documented 'specific' mental health issues, then they shouldn't be able to obtain a gun.

I am a gun owner, and an avid hunter, so don't think that my opinion is biased. Obama's new regulations, by no means, make it harder for me to buy a firearm. I can still go to any store around these parts, and buy one. If you are legally allowed to have one, then it won't effect you either.

These new regulations are specifically designed to make it harder for people who aren't mentally stable, or are criminals (felons) from obtaining a firearm so easily. It always bothered me the ease of access that people can obtain a gun at guns shows by walking up to people outside of the show and buying the gun they have for sell. These regulations will prevent such an occurrence.

3 points to Pro (Arguments). Reasons for voting decision: First of all, I'd like to address the fact that Pro completely forfeited, and should lose this debate. I guess you could call Con's arguments good if the other person doesn't even respond at all.

[*Reason for removal*] Full forfeit debates are not moderated, save in instances where a voter votes for the forfeiting side. This voter hasn't justified the allocation of arguments despite the forfeit.
