Resolution: "Obesity [1] is a disease [2]."

I will be arguing against the resolution. My opponent will be arguing for the resolution.

The opponent will begin his argument in the first round, and he will not include an argument in the final round. This rule is in place because the opponent will be arguing in the affirmative—and he who argues in the affirmative generally ought to initiate the debate.

(NOTE: This debate is currently impossible to accept. If you're interested in taking the "Pro" side, say so in the comments section.)

Obesity is not a disease. It is a self-inflicted condition.Like alcoholism and drug abuse people make a conscious decision to continue their particular vice to the detriment of their health. When someones waist measurement increases 2 inchs per month and the scales tell them they are 20 pounds heavier why don't they stop eating enough for 2 people? Because they simply don't want to make the effort to not stuff cream cakes and hotdogs in their mouths. These people have no regard or respect for themselves or anyone else because they are comfortable with who and what they are.Until they get ill of course. It is pure greed that has ruined their health not disease not "water retention" and definately not "big bones".If people want to eat, drink or drug themselves to death, then I say let them.No doctors and no hospitals lets grant them the deaths they obviously want.
