The Catholic Church had support, funding and time. With this privilege it built observatories and meeting places for thinkers. The Church was a source of higher learning. They excavating, preserved and cataloged Ancient Greek and Roman items. For prosperity and study. The idea of studying nature was common place among the Catholic Church.

In Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems by Galileo Galilei (1632)

Galileo writes: "I shall make it known that everything was brought before the attention of the Roman censorship, and that there proceed from this clime not only dogmas for the welfare of the soul, but ingenious discoveries for the delight of the mind as well."

He is not criticizing Roman Censorship, but that proceeding from Papal review was knowledge and truth about the salvation of one's soul and how the world around us worked.

If you had looked over the resolution it is saying that Christianity impeded science. You have the pro position meaning you are supposed to prove that Christianity impeded science.

Reasons for voting decision: Both sides forfeited, neither made any arguments in favor of their positions. For that, I'm leaving this a tie. This could've been a win for Con if he specified that Pro had the BOP, but since he left it blank I have to assume it was shared.
