The outsourcing of product production and manufacturing - along with the required employees - to other nations where workers will work for much less, hurts the national economy because the profit made off of these products when exporting to other companies goes directly to the company instead of the nation.

David Ricardo's (actually John Stuart Mill's) Law of Comparative Advantage demonstrates how even though nation A may be better at both producing cloth and producing corn than nation B, they can both still specialize to their mutual benefit. Trade is very important. Just as we all benefit from the division of labour society, we also all benefit when nations specialize in whichever areas they are most proficient and then trade with other nations. Besides, those desperately poor people in the third world need jobs.
