buying and owning a pet is one of the worst acceptable acts allowed that alot of people do. no one should buy or own an animal except for the animal being a food source.

religion is not allowed in this debate. none of that god gave us control of all the animals babble.

I would like to point out that there is absolutely nothing wrong about 2-round-debates.
If my opponent cannot state a case in one round, that's their problem.

I will at least present one argument.

Owning pets is not in and of itself selfish.
Owning an avalanche search dog is a very social activity. Taking in sick and abandoned animals from the wild and saving them from starvation and the wildlife from their failed attempts at hunting is not selfish. It's an act of mercy.

Hence, the premise is obviously flawed and the instigator is wrong.

@Anunaki:
Well, I wanted a two-round debate, and changing things post-hoc, AFTER I accepted is just chickening out, that's all.
I'm not going to accept that other challenge, it was never part of the original deal. I like short debates. If you can't correctly work this site, that's none of my business. The way I see it, all you did was forfeit. Pity.

Pro, can you please explain how in your mind it's not acceptable to own pets but it is okay to kill animals for food? That's really very hypocritical.
