I am running a debate that parents should talk to there kids about drugs at a young age. I take this stand because there are predators out there who are trying to get children addicted to drugs. This is an important concept for children to understand if someone were to come up to them and offer them Drugs. What are your opinions about this debate?

Many parents do tell their children about drugs at a young age. The problem is, the kids just don't listen. Telling your children about drugs at a young age won't do much because when their best friend asks them to use drugs, chances are, they are going to say yes. I do think it is extremely important to find a way to dramatically decrease the percentage of people who use drugs in the future, but the problem isn't awareness.

Being aware of the dangers of drugs can be just the best that parents could teach, if they wish they could go further in taking precautions

The answer is obvious, but the debate should be focused on how the parents should persuade their children. Should their be force and punishment, or relaxed persuasion by the parents. Both routes have consequences, and I would look forward to debate that.

I truly doubt that there is anyone here who would disagree to this, considering there is no negative impact on making them aware of the drawbacks of drugs whatsoever
