Pro

People are born with their sexual orientation already determined, just like they are born tall or short, it may not be apparent at birth but it is there.
Phoenix_Reaper

Con

My opponent has failed to provide any proof to his claims.

A person is not born gay. It is out of choice for a person to be gay.

I will leave it at that. Hopefully the Pro/for can provide a better argument that I may counter.
Debate Round No. 1

Pro

My opponent hasn't given any proof for his claims either.

Why would people subject themselves to the kind of ridicule that homosexuals experience, willingly?
Phoenix_Reaper

Con

"Why would people subject themselves to the kind of ridicule that homosexuals experience, willingly?"

What you call ridicule the homosexual community embrace as freedom of their beliefs. The homosexuals knowing accept the way they have made themselves. From what you are saying also is that people should keep any unaccepted social norm to themselves are never confront it. That is unkind.

Also to add the sentence I have quoted offer no proof or backs any claim my opponent has made in his opening argument.

As the instigator it is not wrong of me to assume that you have proof to back your claim.

To date, no researcher has claimed that genes can determine sexual orientation. At best, researchers believe that there may be a genetic component. No human behavior, let alone sexual behavior, has been connected to genetic markers to date.

A person IS born homosexual, or heterosexual. It is not a choice. Scientist have concluded and proven that homosexuality is a trait we are born with. Studies have shown the homosexuality rate in twins. This is not a logical debate by either parties that participated in this argument. Telling one to "go to hell" is not a rational response to someone when they do not share the same belief(s) as yourself. However, why would someone CHOOSE to be homosexual? Why would they choose to get their marriage rights, Social Security rights, equality rights, human rights, hospital visitation rights, and much more taken away from them just to pursue the same sex. Why would they choose to get made fun of in a society? Why would they choose to be frowned upon? Why would they choose to have to PAY to have children of their own? They would not. Being homosexual is NOT a choice. You may post an opposition to this, but regardless of your personal belief and stubbornness to realize the scientifically proven FACTS about sexual orientation. Poor job on both opponents positions. Neither of you placed a valid argument. That's disappointing that you both have such strong opinions on something neither of you seem to be educated about.

What do you mean daks_attack? I was being serious, all you needed was a measly......52 points in a row, and you could have easily won.
To put it in perspective, if one were to multiply your score by infinity.....you still would have lost.

This was pretty close if I dare say so myself.
Could have gone either way.

ChevySdyme99, why is gross for gay men to be 'knob-bobbers' when heterosexual women are guilty of the same thing? Why is it gross for women to be 'muff divers' when heterosexual males are guilty of the same thing? Perhaps you can put this in perspective for me?

Phoenix_Reaper, you say that it is out of choice that people are gay. Can you tell me when I chose to be gay, because I don't seem to remember choosing? Unless you're claiming that I chose to be gay at the age of 5, when I first started physically and emotionally showing my attraction towards the same sex?

Reasons for voting decision: It's a sad day when Con's argument passes for a debate. But Pro didn't provide an argument himself so a sh!tty argument wins this debate.

Reasons for voting decision: Instigator has the burden of proof, which he did not provide. Thus Con had better conduct, a better argument, and provided a source to go along with his claim.

Reasons for voting decision: People are not born gay. And even if for some ungodly reason they were, it does not make it right or ok. It should be treated as a mental disease, just as any other mental disorder. It is not right, because if it was the right way then there would be no life on the planet. Sorry, but if you are gay than you should check yourself into a mental hospital. The penis is not made to be inserted into a rectum and a vagina is not made to rub against the skin of another vagina.
