Hello, this would be my first debate so I'm still a little fuzzy on the formalities. I apologize in advance for any mistakes.

I'm using the definition of knowledge in the philosophical sense.
Knowledge is defined as a justified, true belief.
A supernatural event is defined as an event which transcends the laws of nature (i.e. physics, biology, mathematics, etc.).

I aim to show that those who believe it is possible to have knowledge of the supernatural (miracles, spirits/demons, afterlife, etc.) are wrong. I hope to prove that they are mistaken and simply have faith in the supernatural-not knowledge of it.

First round is for acceptance, definition of terms, and, if you like, a few sentences explaining what you hope to prove.

Happy thinking!

I accept this debate.

I shall attempt to show how it is possible to have knowledge of the supernatural, if it exists. I do not undertake to prove the existence of the supernatural in general, or of any specific supernatural event or entity; nor do I attempt to show that one can prove any element of the supernatural to anyone else. If one has knowledge of a supernatural event or entitiy, it may be possible to prove to others; but that is outside the scope of this debate.

I accept all the definitions given above, and add one more:

Proof: evidence establishing or helping to establish a fact or the truth of a statement.

I thank my opponent for this debate.

We are tying the debate. Please, no voting.

This one'll be scrapped for the less convoluted terms of a new debate.

This debate is not to be voted on. My opponent and I have agreed to tie this; accordingly, anyone who votes on this will expose thier secret habits of voting without reading the debate, and they will be shunned by all clean-mind folk.

Shunned.

I second my opponents suggestion of shunning and wholeheartedly encourage all others to do the same.

Lacking an actual debate round to post here, may I instead draw your attention to these superb videos:

I thank my opponent for her courtesy.

Courtesy is no problem.

As my closing "argument", and in the troll spirit, I offer the best argument posted on a debate that I've ever seen.

Sorry for wasting a full minute of your time, Roy.

Oyrus started this, her very first debate, and we discovered at R1 that there were large problems with the stated resolution. Instead of N00b sniping or spending the remaining rounds pointlessly debating terms, I allowed her to tie this and move on.

But, I can see how you'd be sore about losing that whole minute and then to be fussed at. After all, we all know that I have no sense of humor, and would NEVER kid around with those who read this...

*quest.

I hate when the DDO text editor chops off letters. Normally I write everything out in a word processor and paste it in to avoid mistakes like this.

Well, if that is what you want we can tie this. No arguments have been posted outside of the comments section; we'll post a few polite words in the remaining rounds informing the voters not to vote.

And then, message me and we'll come up with another debate. :

ha! true.

I think I may have to give up on this. It's way too convoluted. But I do want to debate you on something else.

Something regarding the immorality of causing pain? You make the terms? lol

You're fine; better to figure this out now than in R2 and have two rounds of awkward silence.
