I contend that the human species cannot further evolve physically, because intellegence and modern war technology prevents "survival of the fittest" to occur.

Hello Jcool4debate and thanks for posting this interesting argument. It is true that intelligence and modern war technology have changed the characteristics that the fittest need to survive. However, I contend that the human species continues to physically evolve through natural selection and, to a lesser extent, genetic mutations. We used to physically evolve to be bigger, stronger, and faster. There was a time that this was very important to survival. Now, we may physically evolve to live longer or metabolize more efficiently, traits that are more relevant to modern lifestyles. The point is that certain traits will become more or less favorable while evolution continues.

The hunter-gatherers classified as "Anatomically-Modern Africans" were smaller and much smarter than their Neanderthal cousins from ancient Europe. They were able to attack and kill the larger, stronger, and dumber beings.

I believe that intelligence is the new kind of evolution. Our bodies will get smaller, or our heads will get bigger. It's possible. Just an idea.

However, I'd like to say that whatever you think the next wave is, it is going to happen.

Actually the pro argument is almost completely wrong. For the vast majority of human history humans lived in hunter gatherer societies were all food was shared equally and marriage was often decided by strict kinship rules. It is very hard imagine a social system more resistant to natural selection.

Current society is highly stratified with the most successful individuals almost always mating with other successful individuals.

Also the advent of nuclear weapons, bio-weapons and climate change make the sort of cataclysm that is so advantageous to evolution much more likely.

If we don't wipe ourselves out we should evolve quite nicely . I am hoping for wings and a tail.
