This is going to be a very brief debate over Pokemon's superiority to Digimon. First round is acceptance. Second is present case. Third is summary and rebuttle.

First. The sheer number of fans Digimon has is nothing compared to Pokmon. Pokmon sells more memorabilia in a day then digimon does in two weeks. (not a fact, common sense). Pokmon has many running t.v series and Digimon had 3 series to air in America. With Pokmon having 4. On top of countless movies Pokmon has put out compared to Digimon 2. Also, Digimon does not have a very well known character that every household knows. Everyone remembers the yellow mouse, Pikachu "Pika- pi". Yet, Digimon fails to have a character as wildly popular and well known as this one.

The Digimon anime is not as generic. Just look at the different seasons:

Season 3 took a turn for a more older audience. It introduced a different form of digivolution, and viewed the main characters as "Tamers" as opposed to "Digidestants"(which was what the kids were called in the previous 2 seasons.) Not to mention the ending finale was sad as hell.

Season 4 of the Digimon series introduced a totally new way of evolving, (which I admit took some getting used to, but after awhile it was proven to be pretty kickass) in which the children THEMSELVES were the digimon.

Season 5, yet again, was made to appealed a more broader audience. The main characters were teens(16+) as opposed to tweens(11+) I can go on and on.

Pokemon never swayed away from their formula ONCE. Ash leaves town. Ash beats gym leaders. Ash somehow ends up in new region. Ash has two companions that are replaced. It's just a RDR( Rinse, Dry, and Repeat.)

Pokemon was a sellout that lost its interesting-factor early on in the first series. The multiple adaptations and remakes made the plot... tiresome. Sooner or later, the characters were just that, characters; nothing original about them to create a sense of realness.

For that, I give my respects to Digimon.

If you think pokemon is better...
Pokemon ruined so many kids lives:
1) Knowing trainers eat meat in pokemon but there are no animals so what do they eat? (pokemon meat)
2) With the original lavender town music in the game made 300+ kids suicide because of depression
3) With the episode "Electric soldier Polygon" made 700 children report seizures and head aches

Pokmon keeps the continuity. By adding generations of Pokmon, (up to 5 by now) They have changed it. Yes, it does have the same process. But its not that simple. There is villains (team rocket, team Galactic), side adventures, (Poke-Contest and crazy mishaps), it has always and forever will be the most memorable anime. (Close to Dragonball Z). Digimon introduced new ways every season and kids and teens alike had to adapt and closely pay attention to understand this new way of evolving or way of the game. We all know kids and tweens alike don't have very long attention spans, so they get bored of it. Pokmon has the same evolution for a reason. It appeals to kids simplistic nature and they're ability to understand quickly, "its evolving" (Spelling my bad). Digimon success is nothing to that of Pokmon. Right now, if you asked people what Pokmon and what Digimon was. More would respond to Pokmon. Pokmon has always been original and will forever be the same. It docent change because it wants people to remember how it was and for it not to get worse. As when something changes, most likely happens

Firstly, my opponent has completely ignored my arguments about the ways Pokemon has ruined kids lives. Secondly, I have already said that Pokemon was just a sellout and lost interest quickly, while digimon is still favored by many over the world. Thirdly, digimon appeals all ages so when a child grows he/she will continue to like digimon while Pokemon will die out fast. Lastly, digimon expresses something new every season like characters and themes so kids can love each one per season while Pokemon is the same team rocket and ash with his gang. For all these reasons, i cannot see anything but a negation ballot

Honestly? Creepypasta is a collection of creepy fictional stories. Lavender Town Syndrome isn't real, it was invented by some random dude on the internet. Citing Creepypasta is as credible as citing Uncyclopedia as legitimate fact. Slenderman would be real if Creepypasta was a legitimate source. I logged into my dead account just to post this.

Can you cite the last two "ruining lives" points or is that just a bunch of jokes? It's be cool to bring that up later. I'm more inclined to believe that children had seizures to the polygon episode though.

Reasons for voting decision: Con's only substantial points were change and suicide. If Con had sourced the claims that children died or were injured from listening to Pokemon music that would have won him the debate. However, he never did. We're only left with his point of series evolution. Pro however refuted this by showing that while Pokemon follows a certain formula, this doesn't preclude it still changing based on the formula. Therefore, Pro wins on the superiority of his popularity argument which went unrefuted.

Reasons for voting decision: Neither side presented any sources, which would definitely be needed for "suicide" claims. But Pro never address Con's arguments and just repeated their own. Con stated that the RDR method of Pokemon was harmful, which makes sense, but Pro just moved on.

Reasons for voting decision: Although I still believe that the Pokemon games are awesome, I was actually convinced the Digimon series as a whole is better than Pokemon. Can you site the last two "ruining lives" points or is that just a bunch of jokes?

Reasons for voting decision: I'm more familiar with pokemon, but Con's argument that pokemon is just a generic 'rinse and repeat' while Digimon mixed it up seemed pretty convincing. Man, fun little debates like this make me miss the days when everyone wasn't so serious on this site. Maybe I'll challenge Maikuru to something fun.
