Pro

i favour this topic because i think that mixing politics in faith hurts religious feelings of a group.
Protagoras

Con

Before I start:

Don't be confused with faith and religion, they are two different ideals.

_______________________

The link between a faithful politician and the feelings of a particular religious group appears hazy. Let me remind you, this is my opponent's sole argument.

Certaintly, you don't want to vote on an affirmative stance that rests upon an incoherent advocacy.

In response, I purpose the following resolution:

Politicians ought NOT be kept away from thier faith.

Faith will be defined as confidence or trust in a person or thing.

Do you want a politician that votes on policies despite her trust in it?

Would you like for a politician to vote on RISKY foriegn policies?

Certaintly you do not. Without faithful politicians, we wouldn't have America because no one would invest in a nation, unless they were CONFIDENT they were making the right decision.

My opponent wants a mindless robot as a politician, she wants someone who will vote off of random thoughts, as opposed to confidence and trust in something.

I for one disagree, I think politician ought to use thier faith, to a certain extent, of course. My opponent values absolutely NO faith, but I will take a risk, and say, "a little faith is all it take to create something great".

With that said, I have faith that you will vote for me.

im confused by this because i thought the Pro was talking about Politics as a whole, then she says nothin about that and limits herself to politicians which in my opinion is why the con won. If she had not done that then, she wouldve had a chance.

You kinda have to work with what you're given, Con. I think you would want to start by pointing out that Pro's lack of definitions, boundaries, rationale, etc.

Okay, but then how could CON win?

Provide definitions?

I'm not voting.
Because Pro didn't clarify, your argument could have been completely off base.
Pro could have ment, that religious teaching should not be incorperated into laws, bills, etc.
I doubt she was trying to keep politicians away from their faith.

This should be a disregarded debate because "faith" was never defined. We would have to assume that the instigator was talking about religious faith. And, furthermore, "politics" was not clearly defined either. Is "politics" the making of policy by government? Or is it the interplay between politicians, politicos and pundits?

It was a poor instigation with no boundaries and strange logic. Point: Protagoras.

Whomever believes I have weak arguments, please feel free to challenge me to a debate. ;D

I took a strongly rhetorical approach for a reason, evidently, it's working.

The arguments were fairly weak, if you want to call that arguments. I thought it would be fun to leave a few sentences of "my opponent is wrong, vote for me" nonsense.

Listen to PoJoe, vote for whomever has the most sentences!

Both arguments were extremely weak. However, my vote goes with CON if for no other reason that he wrote more sentences.

Everything should be kept away from faith, not just politics. Stay away from it, it's evil!
