The more powerful people intend to be the more sterotypical they are. They act like they care about members of the public when making publicity stunts for their career. They judge deprived areas, teenage mums and people who live off benefits.

I would like to thank my opponent for creating this debate, i will be moving to negate the resolution that 'powerful people are stereotypical.'

Definitions:
Generalization - a proposition asserting something to be true either of all members of a certain class or of an indefinite part of that class. [1]

In the previous round my opponent wrote in regards to powerful people that they "act like they care about members of the public when making publicity stunts for their career. They judge deprived areas, teenage mums and people who live off benefits."

My opponent in the previous round has made a generalization about all powerful/ rich people, and since he has the burden of proof in this debate all I would have to do to prove his argument false is to find a powerful person who defies said stereotypes. This is what I intend on doing.

Bill Gates is the founder and former executive chair of Microsoft[2], He has a net gain of approximately $50 billion[3], and when he dies he plans on giving his fortune to the charitable organization he and his wife set up called "The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation"[4]. The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation was set up in order to enhance healthcare and reduce extreme poverty.

Seeing as Bill Gates, a powerful and rich person, does not fulfill the stereotypes of a powerful person my opponents assertions in R1 have been effectively negated.

Thank you,
