My opponent may start his argument straight away, but should write his conclusion in the third round, whilst I shall write my conclusion in the fourth round. In the fourth round my opponent should simply write: Conclusion in third round as agreed.

I do not see the problem with private gun ownership, if the guns are registered and under a license. But to get your guns it should be like the Australian System where you have to give reason for wanting guns. And you have to attend gun safety courses, and attend Gun clubs on a regular basis.

Round 1

Lack of reason

There is no reason why a citizen of the US should require a gun for personal use. There may be a reason for a Police Officer, when properly trained, to require a gun. However, the Police Officers ownership should not be private (i.e. he should not have one in his home), he should only be able to pick one up whilst at work and then have to return it again when he leaves. People do not 'need' guns to protect themselves from the possibility of a tyrannical government as that is something that simply would not happen in the US.

A country is safer without guns

Let's take a look at this graph:

US vs UK

It's interesting to note that in the UK, where gun laws are a lot more restrictive, gun homicides per 100,000 are a HELL of a lot lower than in the US. As, in fact, are non-gun homicides, therefore proving that less guns does not mean more murders.

Ok, you may think, why not just ban automatics but let people have handguns? This is why:

Here, again, we see that, in general, the more handguns are owned per 100,000 the more handgun-related deaths there are per 100,000. Israel is an anomaly, but that is purely because a vast majority of Israel citizens are involved somehow with the military. This shows that stopping US citizens, who do not NEED guns at all, from buying any kind of gun, handgun or otherwise, could only be a positive thing.

The second amendment

American's tend to get very uppity about how gun laws breach the second amendment. However, in t
he case of Cruikshank V. the United States in 1876, the Supreme Court of the US ruled that the right to bear arms is not granted by the constitution, neither is it in any manner dependent upon that instrument for its existence. Later on, in 1939, the supreme court ruled that the federal government and the states could limit any weapon types not having a “reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well regulated militia. Thus, the second amendment is not breached by any kind of gun laws, including the complete illegalization of their ownership. It is the right of an American citizen to be kept safe, which they will be if they are not allowed to own a gun, for their own good.

Freedom does not exist. You are bound by the laws that govern you and bound by the laws of nature. I'm no trying to inspire you, I'm giving you cold hard facts and telling you how it is.

Being able to have guns is one o fare right and it shouldn't be taken away. You argue that without guns, crime would drop. This is false, look at Switzerland. A gun can be found in almost every household, yet they have a very low crime rate

You're that violent that you don't even know what threats are anymore apparently. This is a great example for why American's, and people in general, should not be allowed guns, because they threaten their use at every available opportunity.

That was not a threat. It was a warning. You can keep your nose intact by minding your own business.

I'm glad you could make a well-informed and reasoned out argument as to why American's aren't too violent to have guns and didn't find it necessary to resort to threats.

My point is. Keep your nose out of our business. You might get it shot off.

We stayed out of the war because you were Europe. You people have been fighting each other for thousands of years. We fought a revolution to kick you out of America. We were reluctant to get involved.I'll bet your anscestors were not ashamed to see America join the fight.

I will admit one thing. We did have a communist president at the time. That weasel did like hitler and stalin. When Japan attacked, it was Germany that declared war on America. Big mistake. It was not the government that went over there. It was those kids from those Iowa farms that won that war.Not Roosevelt.
