Why Ps4 is superior to the Xbox One:

Sources at bottom

Design:

In terms of design the Xbox One and PS4 are completely different prospects.

Microsoft’s Xbox One is far, far larger – an imposing black monolith of the living room. The PS4 is sleeker, slimmer and less likely to dominate your under-TV space. The power block is now actually concealed inside of the Ps4 while the Xbox One has an external power block, the combination of the two make for a heavy combo when it comes to the portability of the Xbox One.

-Ps4 on top, Xbox One on the Bottom

Connectivity - [1]

The Ps4 has superior online connectivity compared to the Xbox One. The Xbox One ( we shall call it the "XBO" to shorten this debate) was programmed at launch to actually reserve some of its CPU power to be able to run background programs and menus to increase the speed and accessibility for those who enjoy multitasking. Doing this though makes the XBO's Internet stability an issue as not as much is focused on the connection as it is focused on multitasking.
When it comes to the Ps4's connectivity it is for the most part very reliable and quick as the console focuses more on the "now" as in how much it can pump out gameplay and make sure that your experience isn't a laggy one. It also runs less background programs so this helps reserve CPU power to more important parts of the system.

Interface - [2]

As I have mentioned in the past part of my argument, the Xbox One focuses more on background programs and such to increase your ability to multi-task. To do this the XBO has adopted a look that has been inspired by Windows phones and Windows 8 app layouts. This may come as an issue as you my find yourself going through multiple tabs just to find the game or app you would like, and this just isn't an efficient or fun way of trying to enjoy yourself on a console.

The Ps4 On the other hand takes a simplistic approach to organizing your games an apps that you have. It focuses more on horizontal movement that orders your apps/games depending on how recent you have used the specific item. If I were to be watching youtube and decided I wanted to go play one of my games that I played yesterday, it will literally take you 3-5 seconds top. This shows how having a simplistic approach is greater than going for an eye-pleasing approach .

The Controllers - [3]

The XBO hasn't done much to their predecessor when it comes to change, though they have improved the design of it to be more ergonomic and sturdier. It boasts rumble features in both sides of the controller to improve your experience and make you feel more immersed, though this is really only seen in racing games, and no racing games have really been prevalent as of late to really make it a selling point.
The XBO controller still requires two double A batteries in order to be operational which can get quite expensive in the long run and I don't think anyone wants to have to run to their local WalMart to go grab a pack or two of Double A batteries to play their XBO. My opponent is likely to bring up batteries, well the fact is that they still add-on on to the initial price of the console, and extra expenses are for the most part unwelcome when you just want to play a video game.

The Ps4 has done a total Revamp of the DualShock 3 controller from the Ps3. Making it more ergonomic and easier to use as the buttons are crisp and the triggers are accurate and easy to use. The Dual Shock $ controller has also made quite some innovation by adding a touchpad/button in the middle, and a mic built into the controller to further immerse you in games as you receive voices from characters in a game or a monologue from a fallen soldier. In most games this adds more functionality and variety towards your gaming experience. It also has a recharging port, so no batteries! It has been praised very highly by the gaming community and should be as I believe it is the superior controller.

Processing Power - [4]

This is the part that most people pay attention to the most in the gaming community, this determines how amazing the games will look on the individual could give you all the specifics on the hardware that powers the consoles, but doing so probably wouldn't make much sense unless you are knowledgeable in the tech field.

When it all boils down to it, the Ps4 has 50% more processing power than the XBO has. This means better looking games and faster actions when it comes to doing tasks.

1080P is considered HD, and this is what the Ps4 will run most of the time, only dipping as low as 900p for more intense games.

720p is still considered HD, but just not as good as 1080p. 720p is what most games on the XBO will be at, this means that when comparing the same game on both the consoles, the Ps4 wins out on visual quality as its resolution allows it to have a clearer picture.

What you want out of a console -

Whenever you hear someone buying a Ps4 or XBO, you immediately think "Video Games". This is and should be the case when it comes to this topic as that is what consoles are for. Every console ever made has been made purely for video games only.
With the introduction of the XBO and the Ps4, they both took two separate approaches.

Ps4 approached as "Games" while XBO has opted for "Entertainment". When it comes to gaming I believe you should choose a ps4 as yes it has youtube and such, but that isn't what you are there for. You want to play video games with your friends and have a good night. The XBO has reduced its focus on games and has more services related to tv and movies, and honestly this is a good approach.

If you want to make it simple whether or not you should get a Ps4 or an Xbox One, here it is-

Ps4 - Gaming
Xbox One - Entertainment and some gaming
