'Raising the legal age for drinking alcohol to 18+ is no solution.'

I accept the challenge, and negate the resolution. Raising the legal age for drinking alcohol to 18+ is the best solution.
I hope my opponent will inform me and the audience that it is "no solution" for what? Please explain.

I have to make this short due to my opponent only allowing 1,00 Characters

I am inferring that in the resolution, my opponent is referring to the United States drinking problem because, as a nation, it has one of the largest drinking problems in the world

In an article written by David J. Hanson, Ph. D, Hanson states:

"Research indicates that the human brain continues to develop into a person’s early twenties and that exposure of the developing brain to alcohol may have long-lasting effects on intellectual capabilities"

"... alcohol can do long-term and irreversible damage to critical neurological development that is ongoing during the teen-age years and continues until age 20."

"Exposing the brain to alcohol during this period (i.e, before age 21) may interrupt key processes of brain development” and “alcohol–induced brain damage may persist"

I would have said that this wasn't even a valuable debate because congress already had this debate, and the legal age of drinking was increased. And a bunch of other psychological things. Im guessing that my opponent is not going to answer, so I think its fine for me to type it here.

So what you meant is that having a minimum drinking age changes nothing as younger people will drink anyway?

It is (atleast in most states), but thats one of my arguments Lol

If it was in the USA, why would pro say 'raising' the legal age of drinking to 18? Isn't it already 21?

I assume it's about the USA?
I mean... it's pretty ridiculous that your benevolent government allows you to die horribly for your country by joining the army but drinking a beer is not allowed.
