Thx to my OPP I hope to have an enlightening debate......

There are some that argue that religion should be eliminated because of all of the harm it does such as the suicide bombings, honor killings, the Inquisition, etc...Others counter that this one-sided perspective ignores all of the good that religion does, such as support for people when they are ill, the donations to natural disaster funds, etc...

1.Most suffering and pain can be accounted for by the free will that humans exercise God made us free and we use that freedom for evil as well as for good. As for illness and disease, it is hard for us to know the mind of God, but it may be that these trials are a necessary part of a world in which free and spiritual human beings can evolve and develop.

2.There is an inaccurate view of the relationship between science and religion. In fact most of the great scientists of history have been religious believers and have discorved most of all the medical advances we have today.

3.Church allows people to gather together on a regular basis and talk with each other. Its a life long activity that people will always have in common. It allows people to commit to a cause and overcome the minute differences.

4.Americans are very generous, and it turns out that religious Americans are even more generous than their non-religious secular counterparts according to a study by the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research

Major apology to my opponent for being a douche and accepting this but never posting a single argument. Too busy. Full points to him.
