PLEASE PM ME BEFORE ACCEPTING THIS DEBATE...PLEASE!!!
We can figure out a good time to start then.

This is kind of...an experiment?
Time to argue is 5 minutes and max is 8,000 characters.
This is kind of an extemp-debate thing. Should be fun!
Round structure:
1) Acceptance
2) 1AC/NC
3) Refutations
4) 2AC/NC
5) Refutations and closing statements

Should be fun!

I would like to thank my opponent for accepting this debate.

Contention 1: Iran’s Nuclear Program Threatens American
Well-being

International
sanctions on Tehran’s nuclear progress are increasing, yet Iran is increasing
the number of uranium centrifuges installed at its Natanz underground
plant. If successful, Iran would be able
to sharply increase atomic activity which it states is for nuclear power, yet
Americans fear is for building nuclear bombs.
(1) Iran’s funding of this
nuclear program is a threat to the American well-being because Ame

Contention 2:
Israel Will Not Contend an Attack from Iran

Iran’s major
target would be Israel, and we can see this based on past actions and current
situations. First, we need to realize
that Israel is currently widely believed to be the only Middle-Eastern country
without a nuclear program (1). Israel
does not have the morale of Iran when it comes to fighting wars. Iran has acknowledged this, stating that
“Iran would "not hesitate to give a response" to either an Israeli or
US attack against Iran. (2) Israel’s GDP is currently $242.93 billion,
with a 41% debt to foreign nations.
(public data) Israel does not
have the natural resources of Iran.
Israel does not have the weapons, the morale, or the money to fight a
war, making it a viable target for Iran.

Contention 3:
Iran Has too Much Power in the Middle East

The Strait of
Hormuz is the most strategic strait of water on the planet, as the rest of the
world relies on the oil from its deposits. (4)
The United States exports large sums of oil from Saudi Arabia and
therefore must cross through this strait to trade for essential resources. North Korea does not possess such resources
and therefore does not threaten the United States economy as much as Iran. Iran plans to close this Strait should the
United States attack it. North Korea
possesses no essential resources. (5)

Contention 4: Iran’s
UAVs are more deadly than American weapons

Iran’s UAVs
(unmanned aircraft vehicles; drones) have the capabilities of a 24-hour flight
when equipped with weapons. (6) We have
seen the abilities drones have firsthand.
Americans have been killed overseas in countries such as Yemen, which is
why the drone-usage is being limited.
Limited military is not something Iran sees, therefore, Iran has a
larger capability of UAV warfare than the United States.

Contention 5:
North Korea’s Nuclear Program Presents No Threat

President Obama
does not believe that North Korea has the ability to attach warheads to
missiles. He also stated that North
Korea has not fully demonstrated the capabilities mentioned. Without the ability to attach warheads to
ballistic missiles, the dreaded North Korea is nothing more than an angry group
of civilians. North Korea possesses no
threat when it comes to military action. (7)

Contention 6:
Israel Will Bring the U.S. into a War

Israeli Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that “only military threat can stop Iran.”
(8) By a military threat, Netanyahu was
referring to one from the United States.
During a 2012 speech that President Obama made to his AIPAC, his “no
containment” policy towards Iran was announced.
Furthermore, the United States would get involved with Iranian Nuclear
Weapons program should Iran reach a realistic stage. (8)
