NUCLEAR WEAPONS

Definition of the word "HELPED": To give or provide what is necessary to accomplish a task or satisfy a need; contribute strength or means to; render assistance to; cooperate effectively with; aid; assist:

BENEFITS

Although scary, nuclear weapons have been extremely helpful to our world, I will outline this in detail below.

[[[ ENERGY ]]]

Because of "Nukes" energy from nuclear technology was developed.

1/4 of global energy
Nuclear energy provided 10.9% of the world's electricity production in 2012. In 2014, 13 countries relied on nuclear energy to supply at least one-quarter of their total electricity.

- Without this imortant long term productive energy, the global system would be severly hurt.

Safest energy recource
Nuclear energy is one of the safest productive energy sources globally, with less deaths per year then coal, wind, solar, and natural gas.

- Nuclear energy is safe, and productive.

Long term use
Nuclear energy is productive long term, and useful. Cesuim-137, a isotope used in protectecting blood, can only be made form nuclear waste. This means that even it is extremly great, and can be recycled.

- Smaller foot print, and useful long term

Nuclear energy saves lives

Nuclear medicine uses radiation to allow doctors to make an accurate diagnosis of the functioning of person's specific organs, or to treat them. Radiotherapy can be used to treat some medical conditions, especially cancer, using radiation to weaken or destroy particular targeted cells.Tens of millions of patients are treated with nuclear medicine each year

-Over 10,000 hospitals worldwide use radioisotopes in medicine. The most used radioisotope is technetium-99, with some 30 million procedures per year, and is used in 10,000's of hospitals each year

[[[ PEACE ]]]

A much more complicate issue, i will explain why, even though with their power, nuclear weapons have helped maintain this peace.

Although shaky it may seem, nuclear weapons have helped maintain our global peace, "The Nuclear Posture Review" adds “as long as nuclear weapons exist” to the phrase “safe, secure and effective,” The fact is is that Nuclear wepons maintain peace, with no country willing to use them. Also, if terrorists got their hands on a bomb, it would not destroy the world, some casualties, but no apocolaypse. This, coupled with fact that terrorists with W.M.D are very rare, makes me belive that they are good, and have helped the world

ALTERNATIVE TO NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

If "Nukes" had not been used in japan during WWII the alternative would of been "Operation Downfall" an invasion of japan in which deaths of Allied troops where around 1/2 million.

[1] In a study done by the Joint Chiefs of Staff in April, the figures of 7.45 casualties/1,000 man-days and 1.78 fatalities/1,000 man-days were developed. This implied that a 90-day Olympic campaign would cost 456,000 casualties, including 109,000 dead or missing. If Coronet took another 90 days, the combined cost would be 1,200,000 casualties, with 267,000 fatalities.[49]
