Debate Round No. 1

Lets hop on this troll debate.

(I) The House Supports Sinking Africa.

Clarification - Africa should be sunk to the bottom of the ocean

Pros Case

C1) Drastically decrease the amount of aids in the world

In 2012 around 23.5 people were living with aids in Sub-Saharan Africa[1][2]. This alone counts for more than two thirds(70 percent) of all living people with aids[3]. So Africa by itself is hosting over 66 percent of aids that are accounted for in the known world. Africa also hosts 88 percent of the worlds children that are HIV infected[3].

Break this down

35 million people world wide have aids[3]
25 million(70 percent of the total 35 million) live in Africa

A) By Sinking Africa we reduce the amount of aids by 25 million
B) This reduces the total world count of aids down to 10 million
C) Due to this the amount of aids that are world wide will decrease overtime

By Sinking Africa we eliminate the grip that aids has on the world.

C2) Reducing World Hunger

We as a society should possess and demonstrate the want and need to fix suffering. Africa posseses the highest percentage of world hunger in the entire world[4]

"Sub-Saharan Africa has the highest prevalence of starvation(world hunger)(24.8 percent of population)"[4]

A) We as moral agents should possess a desire to eliminate suffering. If we possess the ability to eliminate suffering, we should do so. Letting people suffer and not acting upon it could be considered immoral. The ability to watch someone in pain, goes against every form of morality. We can gauge morality by a lot of different measures. The veil of ignorance (what a rational society would do), subjective morality, or even nihilism. All of these gauges share one thing in common. What is beneficial to society.

We as a whole do not possess the ability to feed all of the Africa population. It would bankrupt half the world, but we do possess the ability to blow them up and sink them to the bottom of the ocean. By doing this we are accomplishing a few things

(a) We are stopping future children from starving
(b) We are giving a swift death to people who would other wise die a painful one
(c) We are eliminating other people from witnessing this type of suffering

By sinking Africa we would put a dent in world hunger

C3) Economically Beneficial.

Africans naturally produce a high amount of oil in their body due to their hair products. Africans are always putting oil in their hair and they can even produce it naturally. By sinking Africa we are founding an entire new place to drill for oil. The oil will be mixed with the sea and we can capitalize upon this. By mixing the amount of oil each African person possess with the sea, we can fuel america for ten life times. Not to mention Africa is a prime place to gather natural resources. Even if we split it among other nations, we could self sustain for decades.

A) Utilitarianism - We should sink Africa because it will give us enough oil to live for multiple life times, which will also reduce gas prices. In addition to this we can farm for natural resources like gold and silver and monopolize the trade of it.

C4) African Mermaids

As we can see from the futurama episode "deep south", putting coca cola in a place that sinks can contribute to mermaids. [5]

" They learn that Atlanta was once a land-locked city, but chose to move off-shore for the sake of improved commerce. When the city became overcrowded and overweight, it started to sink and many of the inhabitants left. Most remained, and in time, when the city had settled on the ocean floor, they evolved into merfolk with the help of the caffeine from the Coca-Cola bottling plant. " [5]

A) Africa has a lot of Coca-Cola bottling plants [6]
B) By sinking Africa we can produce lots of mermaids

I will tie the rest of this into C5

C5) Job Productivity

Now that we have produced mermaids, we have to conclude that mermaids are hot. This is not even debatable, it's a fact.

Since we have an increased number of mermaids, more people will masturbate. Masturbation is proven to relieve stress and help you focus better. [7][8]

Due to this the amount of stress, headaches, and menstrual cramps [8] will be reduced and people will be far more productive at work [9]. In addition stress at work also poses a threat to the health of workers such as heart attacks, loss of sleep, and appetites[9]

By getting people to jerk it we are promoting a more safe work environment while getting a higher amount of productivity.

C6) Re suffering and wars

The amount of wars that occur in Africa is monumental. It is just also not the wars, but the way in which they occur and happen. Just take Joseph Kony for example, actually take Uganda as a whole

" Joseph Kony, (born 1961?), Ugandan rebel who led the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), a militia that terrorized northern Uganda and neighbouring countries in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.Kony was reared in the village of Odek in northern Uganda. An ethnic Acholi, he served as an altar boy during his youth and was fond of dancing. He left school to become a traditional healer. When Yoweri Museveni seized power in Uganda in 1986 and became president, some Acholis revolted. A relative of Kony’s, spirit medium Alice Lakwena, led a rebel group called the Holy Spirit Movement, which was quashed by government troops as it advanced on Kampala, the capital. Kony joined another faction and in 1987 proclaimed himself a prophet for the Acholi people and took charge of the Holy Spirit Movement, which would eventually become the LRA. In its early years the LRA enjoyed support in northern Uganda, but as its resources diminished, the militia began to plunder the local population. The movement gained considerable strength in 1994 when it received the backing of the government of Sudan, which sought to retaliate against Kampala for its support of Sudanese rebels.Kony, armed with prophecies that he said he received from spirits who came to him in dreams, ordered the LRA to attack villages, murdering, raping, and mutilating in a campaign of intimidation that displaced some two million people. Children were abducted and brainwashed into becoming soldiers and slaves. Kony convinced them that holy water made them bulletproof. Children who resisted or tried to escape were beaten to death by their peers. Kony was reported to have taken as many as 50 of his female captives as “wives.” By 1996 the government began setting up secure camps. Children living in villages in northern Uganda became known as “night commuters,” walking miles every evening to the relative safety of the camps or towns in hopes of avoiding abduction. Kony’s aim for the LRA was never particularly specific beyond the ouster of Museveni and the establishment of a new government based on the Ten Commandments." [9]

To put this shortly, this mother fuker went from town to town raping people, making children kill their parents, torturing people in unimaginable ways, and nothing was done about it for years. As soon as he dies another moron comes to take his place. We have a moral obligation to blow Uganda and Africa the fuk up. Stop the suffering that is being caused. We can not help them, and we can not stop it. As soon as we leave, more sht happens. So just blow them up and stop future children from being sold as sex slaves, or being forced to kill their parents.

I mean when you see this face, do you not have the desire to shoot it? I know I would not shed a tear or blink one time, before I promptly put a bullet through that fuked up grill.

Conclusion

We can prevent world hunger, put a dent in aids, produce mermaids, capitalize on natural resources, and even prevent the future and current suffering of children that did not have to a choice in where they were born. We need to blow Africa the hell up.

Knowledge of a subject does not give you the win in a debate, it gives you a precursor as to where to start. There is way more to debating than simply knowing facts about a subject. You have to know how to communicate it, how to outline it, and how to respond to arguments that are used against you. That is why elo is viable, it measures you in every debate not just a singular one. Again it is not perfect, but it is viable.

Huh, well at the end of the day, it comes down to knowledge of the subject.

Elo gives you a viable metric, it is not flawless but it is viable.

Honestly, none of them are a good way to measure debating skill. I only lost one debate I was truly passionate about (Not confirmed with Zaradi), but that 18% loss in win ratio is the factor of troll debates or debates I accepted when I was bored.

The win ratio should be fine, you can do the math yourself. The percentile formula is the only one that is fked

Jifpop09
Even so (ELO system is confusing), my ELO would hardly decrease. On another note, I think the win ratio is broken. It went up 40% when I won a debate, but down 15% when I lost to Zaradi

Because of the resets. Around 10 am the elo adjusts itself, so if you have the win on the debate it registers. At the end of the next day when it registers again it will fix itself.

Jifpop09
Just checked. It went up even further after my Pancho's Children debate.
Posted by Mikal 3 years ago
Mikal
Probably because you had the win at the end of a reset. The elo resets every night, so you were up at the start of the first day and then when he won it adjusted itself. At some point it will fix itself.

I don't know. ELO went up 300 after I debated Zaradi, and went up after romanii gave me conduct :). Anyways, good win Mikal. I would say it was more along the lines of trolling, but none the less

Reasons for voting decision: Con really didn't have to accept Pro's abusive definition of "the house" as that realllly isn't what "the house" motions refer to. However, he offered no substantive case or refutations to Pro's case, so the arguments point goes to Pro.
