By my eyes and ears i see people becoming more like the world inside church due to rock music. Rock is not the issue as such but what it stands for. Worldly people like this music, and pastors who have lost many sheep and trust in the Lord seek to bring people to church by pleasing the people who attend. (Rather they should always be there to seek and please the Lord.)

I have heard young pastors who want to start up a church going around to people on the street and asking "what would make you come to church?" they want rock music, no talk of sin, and something to suppress there fears around us.

But my spirit sees death inside, lack of love and the basic duties that church should provide.

For one, rock is by no means always "worldly".

Certain types of rock, from various different cultures, are focused on matters of the spirit if not on the glorification of God.

As an example, Sufis are a group within Islam that often use music and dance to connect with God. In recent times, some Sufis have included instruments commonly used in rock to express their faith in God. This blend of Sufi tradition is called Sufi Rock.

As well, there are types of rock that are used in Christian worship (see Christian rock).

Rock is an extremely large music group. When one adds other cultures into the mix, it becomes impossible for us to simply disallow all rock music from churches.

Music is often used to connect with one's spirituality, with God, and because rock music can glorify just as well as any other type, there is no reason to ban rock while not banning all other types of music.

At the very least, even by your false logic, rock is good because it can bring more to religion, and expose these persons to faith and more "devotional" music and thus make them "better", by your standards.

Bottom line, rock rocks!

Here is my rely.

My argument (as stated) is that rock music cause's God to be replaced, and there for more worldy. They become more worldy because they give up the fight of faith (trust in God) and use there own strength to bring people into church. Because they do not see God in there church moving, they try to do Gods work themselves by using rock music.

The type of music itself is not as such casting a spell upon people as such. Churchs these days are using this type of music which brings people into the church very effectivly.

But I say "it is better that those people never went to those church's." Those people are given a water down and weak message which prevents them from standing strong again afflictions to come and they "will" fall away if they are not taught the true teachings inside the bible.

Example the 'boxer' rebllion in china, the church was told you will not suffer, the rapture will take place and you will escape these things. When it hit they turned away fromt the Lord.

But how can we truly have a dabate about the bible when you are not a christian? or are you?

" Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the father is not in him." 1JOHN2:15 NKJV
" Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with this world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to make be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. " JAMES4:4 NKJV

You cannot get much more worldly than RocknRoll etc.. The purpose of this music is purely emotional, to 'lose control'.. One of the fruits of the Holy Spirit is self control, the EXACT opposite.
Consider the negative effect the counter culture has on SECULAR society since the late 1950's.. And we're bringing it into the Church?

All Christ centered music is pleasing to God since he created it anyway. He wants us to sing to him in ways that are genuine, I don't think he has a preference so long at it is sincere and worthy of his praise
