I saw him dancing there by the record machine
I knew he must have been about seventeen
The beat was going strong
Playing my favorite song
And I could tell it wouldn't be long till he was with me, yeah me
And I could tell it wouldn't be long till he was with me, yeah me

Singing, I love rock and roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock and roll
So come and take your time and dance with me
Ow!

He smiled, so I got up and asked for his name
But that don't matter, he said, 'cause it's all the same
He said, "Can I take you home
Where we can be alone?"
And next we were moving on, he was with me, yeah me
Next we were moving on, he was with me, yeah me

Singing, I love rock and roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock and roll
So come and take your time and dance with me
Ow!

He said, "Can I take you home
Where we can be alone?"
Next we're moving on, he was with me, yeah me
And we'll be moving on and singing that same old song, yeah with me

Singing I love rock and roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock and roll
So come and take your time and dance with me

I love rock and roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock and roll
So come and take your time and dance with

I love rock and roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock and roll
So come and take your time and dance with

I love rock and roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock and roll
So come and take your time and dance with

I love rock and roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock and roll
So come and take your time and dance with me

Rock and roll music is okay, I guess, for some people, but it's not for me.

this is more a matter of opinion. While some people don't like it, others do. I do like the genre of rock but I am kind of picky about the rock music I listen to.

It might also have to do with how you were raised. For me, rock has always been something I've associated with my father. I don't see him all that often therefore rock was a part of my life, but not a very prominent part. Whereas with my mother I live with her most of the time and she listened to pop music so pop music is also a part of my life but is much more prominent. Looking through my music list you would see how this reflects my taste in music. While going through the list you would see tons of pop songs and a select few of rock.
Their taste in music rubs off on you, another example of this is that both my parents hate country music so I've never really had and liking or reason to like it. I never heard any country songs and when I did I usually didn't like it.

This doesn't necessarily mean that your taste in music is completely based off your parents taste. For instance my mother sometimes likes to listen to jazz and I'm don't like it at all. Sometimes I like to listen to Japanese music and neither of my parents have listened to or really liked any of the songs I've played.

I guess a way of looking at music taste is, you develop a taste in music when you are young, possibly to bond with your parents and eventually it becomes something you truly enjoy. As you get older you also will stumble across some music, thanks to the magical world of the Internet or some other means, that you enjoy but your parents might not. So I suppose that would bean the foundation of your music taste is based off your parents while the rest is up to you.

As you see, not all rock is bad. It can even be somewhat subtle and relaxed.

This is a rock song by skillet, an alternative rock band. It is called "Yours to Hold"

I see you standing here
But you're so far away
Starving for your attention
You don't even know my name

You're going through so much
But I know that I could be the one to hold you

[Chorus:]
Every single day
I find it hard to say
I could be yours alone
You will see someday
That all along the way
I was yours to hold
I was yours to hold

I see you walking by
Your hair always hiding your face
I wonder why you've been hurting
I wish I had some way to say

You're going through so much
Don't you know that I could be the one to hold you

[Bridge:]
I'm stretching but you're just out of reach
You should know
I'm ready when you're ready for me
And I'm waiting for the right time
For the day I catch your eye
To let you know
That I'm yours to hold

[Altro:]
I'm stretching but you're just out of reach
I'm ready when you're ready for me
