CONTRADICTION #1

PSA 145:9 The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

JER 13:14 And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.

Psalm 145:9 stands true as the LORD is indeed merciful to all. However, this does not negate His justice. We cannot single out certain attributes of God while dismissing or ignoring others. My Lord is a God of judgment, justice and righteousness. His judgments are true and His justice is perfect.

Let's take this issue further. Consider that the unrepentant, unbelieving world shall be cast into the Lake of Fire by Jesus Christ Himself. Is that merciful, just, righteous, and "good to all?" The wages of sin are death (Romans 6:23). The wicked shall not go unpunished if they stand before the judgment seat without atonement (Proverbs 16:5). God is holy and righteous; He cannot allow sin to defile His kingdom, God cannot dwell with sin as the progenitor of sin shall be cast away from Him into outer darkness. But when we consider that God is the one who passes judgment, who are we to challenge His justice?

The fact that He judges sinners does not nullify His mercy and righteousness. The LORD God is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). He deals with all men equally (Ezekiel 18:23-25). He does not take pleasure in the death of the wicked (Ezekiel 33:11). All concious, men and women have a chance, when they reach an age of accountability, to believe and follow God and His law written on their hearts, or to disobey and sin. The soul that sins shall die without Jesus Christ's blood as a payment for their sins. The LORD is good to all, even the sinner that is damned, because He gave them life and the oppurtunity to believe and follow His word. They rjected God and His word, and in doing they rejected life (Proverbs 8:36)

1st paragraph- an omnibenevolent god actually would have saved us all at birth PERIOD instead of creating an arbitrary, unnecessary hell.

I'm not quite understanding the rest.

Sorry for the forfeiture, I was busy and got distracted. In answer to your statement concerning what an omnibenevolent God would do, you must consider that God desired to create us in His image, meaning that we have a conscious and will of our own. Since we have a will, we can volitionally choose to obey or disobey God. God is a just God and cannot allow sin to go unpunished or unpaid for. In His love and mercy He has provided a way for us to be justified and saved. Those who reject His Gospel of Grace shall not see life in His kingdom but shall be cast out from the presence of God into outer darkness and the torment of the Lake of Fire. The fact that you may deem that unjust is arbitrary. God is the standard of justice and His ways are perfect.

Reasons for voting decision: CT broke format, Con provided virtually no argument, Pro provided no argument, only mitigation. Con didn't touch Pro's considerations of God's justice. I don't know how to score this. If the BoP was on Con then Pro clearly wins. The BoP was on Pro however (he is affirmative) yet Con seemed to imply otherwise with his R1 setup. I have no idea... sloppy debate setup. Edit vote - Given unclear BoP, I will assume BoP is shared. In which case CT fulfils more of his share them Con.
