WHY SHOULD STUDENTS WHO HAVE BAD GRADES PLAY SPORTS. ITS NOT FAIR.SOME COACHES TEND TO BE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT HOW GOOD OF A PLAYER THAN ACADEMIC WISE. THIS IS A BIG AFFECT ON STUDENT WHO DON'T HAVE GOOD GRADES.....

School is meant to bring out the best in all students, not just those who excell in academics. If students are not able to participate in things they enjoy they will quickly lose interest in attending school at all.

According to the the state No child is left behind.Education is the most important thing that we all need to suceed in life....

It is true that everyone needs an education. This is why it is important that schools find a way to meet the interests of all students. Students are more likely to stay in school if they have something of interest to look forward to rather than simply a bunch of classes where they do not feel like they will succeed.

understandable, but who would want to put sports before academics. I stand up for education. We all have the oppurtunity to suceed in life, but we need some form of education.

I don't believe that a child should be prevented from playing sports dependent upon their grades. The children who benefit the most from sports? All those who want to play. When my daughter was a teen, She was very active in several sports. She was a 'c' student generally. Very smart just not an academe. She was not allowed to participate in any sports due to her grades. I remember the days when she was part of the pep squad,a cheerleader,on the basketball team, soccer team , baseball team. She was so excited to come up with activities to bolster team spirit. She was rarely home when participating in all these sports related activities. Taking this away from her broke her heart and her spirit. She copped attitudes with teachers after this and her grades went lower. To make a long story short-she dropped out within a year of this happening. There are other incentives and consequences available without taking away sports from children..as the obesity rates continue to rise we are caught speaking with forked tongues...

A good balanced argument, as everyone is good at something, and that should be nurtured. But, sport is fun and a treat, and the margins are so fine now in professional sport, that those lower down in the league system(s) will be wishing they'd tried harder in maths and became an accountant etc. Sport is a lifetime career, but being accademic is.

Do both parties realize that in most schools if a student fails any one class they're not allowed to participate in any sports...?
