People should not have sex until married because if they are not married and the woman has a baby, what if the male doesn't want a baby? If they are married, they hold the responsibility to keep the baby and stay as a family.

Let me begin by saying that I took this debate only because of the incredible amount of creative freedom that the resolution allows. I will be getting creative and my responsibility as affirmer of the resolution, will be to show why sex before marriage can be okay. But first let me define the terms.

Sex before marriage: Two or more consenting agents having intercourse before they are legally married.

Sex: physical sexual contact between at least two individuals involving their genitalia.(Examples-- Anal sex, oral sex, heterosexual sex, homosexual sex)

The exact definition of marriage will not be important to my case and so I will not provide one. If my opponent wished to she may provide one. Now my opponent's entire case rests on the ability of a couple to procreate together. This claim is fallacious though in that the definition of sex does not preclude the idea of a couple not being able to procreate. Here I will provide a list of scenarios where the parties involved would not be able to procreate. The scenarios are not mutually exclusive.

Anal Sex

This form of intercourse completely bypasses the problem of getting a woman pregnant. Two people can have anal sex with each other for as long as they want and they will never get pregnant, thus sidestepping completely my opponent's argument.

Homosexual Sex

This form of intercourse is between two or more members of the same gender. Procreation is naturally between a man and a woman and so a man and a man or a woman and a woman cannot naturally get pregnant and so this again sidesteps completely my opponent's argument.

Oral Sex

Sexual intercourse does not necessarily need to be vaginal. There is no biological way that a woman can get pregnant through her mouth.

Sex where one or both of the people are infertile.

This can be due to the fact that the consenting parties are too young to be able to make children, too old or they are just naturally infertile. This, like my other examples is a scenario where the agents involved are unable to procreate.

My opponent's case rested solely on the couple's ability to procreate and thus, since I have showed numerous examples of types of sex where procreation is impossible, my opponent's argument fails. Vote Pro

I agree with my opponent that there are ways to have sex and still not get pregnant. But, there are many downsides other than pregnancy. For example, if one partner is sick with a lifelong disease and it is contagi0ous, he/she might not have even told their partner. Then, without them knowing, they would get sick too.
Also, sex isn't a thing to have fun with. They should be responsible on what they do because it could change their life forever.

My opponent has conceded her pregnancy argument and brings two new ones.

Sexually transmitted diseases

My opponent argues that one's partner could have a sexually transmitted disease and not want to tell thei partner, thus getting their partner pregnant as well. I have two objections to this argument.

(1) Marriage does not fix this problem.

The resolution specifically has to do with sex before marriage. The problem my opponent brings also applies to sex after marriage. My opponent's point is thus irrelevant and does not apply to this debate, in that if it did it would cancel out his own defense of sex after marriage.

(2) Sexually transmitted diseases can be protected against.

The ways used to protect against sexually transmitted diseases are also similar to or the same as methods used to prevent pregnancy. Most couples will try to prevent having children by wearing a condom and will thus also protect themselves from a STD.

Sex isn't fun

This seems to be my opponent's own preferences. If someone does not think that sex is fun, then they do not have to have sex. I wish my opponent would expand on this point so that I can properly refute it.

My opponent has not upheld his BOP and so I urge a vote for Pro.

it is true that there are ways to protect people from having diseases from sex, but it's not 100% safe or positive.

Well, people have gotten pregnant through anal intercourse. Leaking semen simply travels from the anus underneath into the vagina. Albeit is unlikey, but it has occured, and as a result, anal sex is not a sure way to prevent pregnancy.
