The full resolution, "Sexual attraction towards the main characters of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is an indication of Pedophilia."

Sexual Attaction [1] - attractiveness on the basis of sexual desire
Pedophilia [2] - a paraphilia in which an adult has recurrent, intense sexual urges or sexually arousing fantasies of engaging or repeatedly engages in sexual activitywith a prepubertal child
Indication [4] - to show that (something) exists or is true

I would like to thank whomever my opponent turns out to be. For the purpose of this debate, we will only be considering the main characters, also refered to as the Mane 6 [3]. Also, since it would be unfair to require "indication" to show an absolute truth (meaning I would just have to show one counter point to win), for balance, indication would need to show that more likely than not.

Burden of proof is shared by both debaters. Pro may start here in round 1 or pass for me to start in round 2. If Pro begins with R1, they must pass on the last round. No new arguments in each debaters' final round, only referring back to previously stated arguments and sources.

Thank you and lets all have some fun!

Hello! I"d be glad to accept the opposing side for this debate. I"ll be passing this first round. I would like to apologize now for my replies- they may be slow, as I have quite a few school projects to work on. However, I will do my best to give a good argument and make this an enjoyable debate for everyone.

I would like to thank my opponent for accepting this debate. Since pedophilia is defined as the sexual attraction towards prepubescent children, that means if we can show that the sexual urges are geared towards post-pubescent adults within the show, the link is severed between sexual attraction to the main characters and pedophilia.

Let us begin by examining our “mane” characters (pun created by the show… because they are ponies). At no point is anyone’s age firmly stated or established, so we have to go by indicators within the show. One of the first things we can look at for a glimpse of their “age” is their maturity level. Now, people will quickly point out that one’s age does not define their maturity; however, there is a correlation between the two. All members of the Mane 6 live on their own (or as in Applejack’s case and arguably Twilight’s, as head of the household) and hold down steady jobs [1][2][3][4][5][6]. It is seen numerous times through the show that they exchange coins, or bits, as currency for services, indicating that there is a working economy and that they must manage their income and expenses. We can be sure that these are not just cases of runaways, as Twilight, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity have all introduced their parents, showing that they merely grew up and moved out on their own (Applejack’s parents passed away and she now runs the farm, oh, spoiler, sorry).

Let us also consider the alternative universe of Equestria Girls [7]. In this world, Twilight and her counter parts are all high school girls. It is stated by Fluttershy that “Sunset Shimmer is gonna rule the school until we graduate [8]” showing that they are in the same grade as Sunset Shimmer. Prior to that we see a scene where Sunset Shimmer has been crowned the Princess of the Fall Formal three times previously at this High School [9]. This shows that all of the Mane 6 are, at least in this universe, High School Seniors.

Lastly, we see in Season 1, Episode 12, “Call of the Cutie” that the formation of Cutie Marks is a flagrant symbol for puberty [10]. This also coincides with MLP:EG in which the Cutie Mark Crusaders are in HS, likely as freshmen (they are considered late bloomers for getting their cutie marks, indicating that they are hitting puberty late, which 9th grade is “late” but not unreasonably). All the Mane 6 have had their Cutie Marks for an extended period of time.

I will end on this and allow my opponent to showcase their arguments for why being sexually attracted to My Little Pony suggests that one is a pedophile.

I realize that in many of the “odd topic” debates that have been done for things like rape and bestiality, people have stated up and down things like “I have not supporting rape, only arguing this side for the sake of debating.”

So, allow me to make my statement. This is a debate regarding sexual urges towards MLP and as to if it speaks at all to me or my feelings…

Thank you

To begin, I would like to elaborate on the topic of cutie marks being indications of puberty. This implies that the only way a pony grows up and matures fully is by acquiring the markings on their flanks. However, there are several apparently grown ponies that do not have their marks, including Queen Chrysalis [1], her followers [1], and King Sombra [2]. If the cutie mark is the only way they achieve puberty, such characters would still be considered prepubescent. The "cutie pox", a disease in which a pony gains multiple cutie marks [3][4], could still be seen as the entrance to puberty if cutie marks really are puberty indications.

The sexual attraction to the "Cutie Mark Crusaders" would indicate a link to pedophilia. If the cutie mark really is a mark of pony puberty, these ponies would then be considered prepubescent due to their lack of a cutie mark [5]. On the same line, sexual attraction to the younger versions of the "Mane Six" would also be evident of pedophilia due to the fact that, during that time, they lack their cutie marks [6].

I would like to thank my opponent for their argument. I will quickly address their points, mention the dropped points and move along into round 3.

== Cuite Marks as Puberty ==

My opponent attempts to say that cutie marks are not a sign of puberty and points to two villains (one at the end of season 2 and the other at the beginning of season 3). However, a few cherry picked examples do not disprove the rule. There are real people that do not experience puberty, usually due to chromosomal birth defects such as Klinefelter Syndrome [1], but we still know that puberty happens.

The relation between cutie marks and puberty in the episode mentioned last round (the episode was specifically about dealing with other “developing” at a different rate than you and how to not judge those that develop faster or slower) is clear, even if not every single pony has a definitive mark.

== Interest in the CMC or the Mane 6 when they were younger ==

This is outside the scope of the debate, as we are talking about the main characters as defined in the opening round and accepted by my opponent. The main characters are obviously the adult forms of the mane six, as that is how they appear for their fans in over 97.8% of screen time.

== Dropped Arguments ==

My opponent did not disagree with the link with the Equestria Girls as high school seniors (definitely post-puberty, if I say so myself, lol). He also did not disagree that the mane six are adult in nature through living independently with jobs and all their own responsibilities. These two arguments will be extended.

== Arguments on the Psychological Front ==

There are currently no real studies on the Brony or Clopper cultures. Most of it is just media hypothesis. The best at this time is Bronystudy [2]. This is run by several psychological doctors (3 with a PhD and 1 with only a masters). Their current studies on Bronies and how they compare to the rest of society can be found here [3]. They are beginning their studies looking specifically at Cloppers and how Bronies view rule 34, such as this one [4]. The study shows that the differences are actually only minor with the biggest being that Bronies were less likely married and less interested in dating, despite no increase in clamed asexuality.

I will have to let this end here and allow my opponent to post their round. Remember that when we go into round 4, our final round, there are to be no knew arguments that were not previously stated. Obviously if anything new is brought up by my opponent that they did not bring up last round, I will try to address it as best I can within our rules.

Thank you

Pedophiles often use images in children's genre to recognize each other. It is a common practice by those who advocate intergenerational relationships. Pedophilia is a dark world that is very much "alive and thriving". They "the pedophiles" use these images as code to offend, buy, sell and or distribute Child Pornography . They insinuate with these images a common denominator that allows them access to one another. Any Internet "crimes against children" task force has learned to document these "passwords and or images" as identifiers just as they would tattoos on criminal sheet.

"This is silly. Tom and Jerry is a children's cartoon but I absolutely love it. Does it also indicate "maldevelopment" on my part to enjoy a children's cartoon?"

Tom and Jerry is a unisex show, arguably a male one. You, as a male, are the target audience for that show, at least in terms of biological sex. The same cannot be said if you fan-boy'd MLP (note the extremity in my original words: actively follow the show). Also, I strongly suspect that there is a large nostalgia part to you liking the show, rather than wholly enjoying the content.

The maldevelopment is indicated by both the age-difference and the female target audience.

>> Whilst I do not think that liking MLP necessarily indicates pedophilia, adult men liking this show, to the point where they actively follow the show, certainly indicates maldevelopment. The show is designed for children, specifically little girls. This modern wave of young men and men becoming fans of things designed for little girls (e.g. MLP, Frozen etc.) shows a culture paradigm that embraces immaturity and is indicative of a degenerate society,

This is silly. Tom and Jerry is a children's cartoon but I absolutely love it. Does it also indicate "maldevelopment" on my part to enjoy a children's cartoon?

If you're ever up for a thorough examination of your beliefs concerning this, I'd be happy to debate this, in the future.

"If it reflects faulty DNA, then that would make it more akin to a medical test, rather than an actual harm."

Faulty DNA and actual harm are not mutually exclusive; your distinction does not have particular relevance.

"Of course, that is if we accepted such a premise, which you would need more evidence than "he watches a girly show!""

You're moving the goalposts. If you found someone cutting themselves, would that not be a serious indicator of depression? Would it not be silly to ignore it because it's only one indicator of depression?

"Since GID is indicated by the discomfort and anxiety of your own sexual gender (not the societal contrived gender), self testing is actually the only medically recognized diagnosis."

By embracing this overly feminine, kiddish show, you show aversion to masculine identity, therefore indicating that you would have anxiety/problems if you were to embrace masculine identity. Hiding your head in the sand doesn't mean that there is no problem to see.

"So my self-diagnosis of not having GID is medically accurate"

Then the standards for "medically accurate" self-diagnosis are garbage and should be dismissed.

"Whether you believe it or not, is not really some I care about"

Your opinion of your interests is not relevant to this discussion.

FYI, that last round was horrible. The mixture of alcohol and deep huffing of bleach fumes (not as an attempt to get high or anything, had to siphon a clogged shower drain, but tried to break it down with bleach first). just wow.

So my self-diagnosis of not having GID is medically accurate. Whether you believe it or not, is not really some I care about (that whole social anxiety thing from early about stressing over what other people think).

"Watching MLP isn't gonna alter my DNA."

It might not alter your DNA, but it could reflect your faulty DNA.

"In case you forgot, this started with how you said MLP was harming ME"

I strongly suspect you have some damaged biological pathing inside of you. Perhaps it's not wholly GID, or perhaps it's not even GID, but there is absolutely a strong argument to show that there is something wrong with you. I'm just being factual, btw. Not trying to offend you.

"Believe it or not, I don't have GID, so that point of yours is moot."

Have you ever been tested to confirm that you do not have this? Self-diagnosis isn't very convincing.

Lol, I have heard of GID, and that medicine is beginning to understand that it is more biological and genetic. Watching MLP isn't gonna alter my DNA. In case you forgot, this started with how you said MLP was harming ME. Believe it or not, I don't have GID, so that point of yours is moot.
