No I don't think Bush should keep sending troops to Iraq, because there are already many people losing their lives out there, plus, they never wanted us to come there, and interfere.

First of all I would like to state that I appreciate your opinion and as an American you have every right to approve disapprove in the elected President. I am in favor of Bush continuing to send troops for two reasons; One reason is the fact that we have removed from power a difficult world leader that has caused major issues and turmoil in the middle east, Two evidence shows that the troop surge has been successful;
The evidence is very clear that many more people are able to express themselves freely with less fear of abuse or imprisonment now that Sadam is no longer in power.

The troop surge despite the lack of media coverage has succeeded in more ways tan one. Remember the major conflict is over, right now what is going on in most of Iraq is American forces training Iraqi police and assisting in combating terrorist until the government makes their own constitution. Since President Bush's troop surge the Iraqi Government (who has been criticized by media and governments round the world for being lazy) has grown by 40%. According to a story in the AP 3,000 families return to their homes in Baghdad (Saturday November 3. 2007 story titled Thousands Returning to Safer Baghdad.

It is important that we relieve the troops that are already bravely serving over seas and I am positive that if we only continue to stay strong behind our brothers and sisters in the military we will help a country that will finally be able to sustain a healthy democratic environment. Thank you for your time and I await your response.

i would like to state that you are right, we HAVE removed a powerful evil ruler. We have also already completed our goal a long time ago! Troops are dying out there!

We have completed most of our objectives, very true but just like in Vietnam we can ill afford to pull out prematurely it will cost the lives of hundred of thousands of individuals. If we pull out now sure we will be safe here at home but the police, firefighters and government officials that have put their lives and their families lives on the line will be vulnerable for attacks. We must stay a little more so we can ensure the optimal chance for the survival of the people of Iraq.

I agree, if we pull out to fast, the people will be vulnerable, but the troops should start going back, little by little. Another thing is that, no one asked the U.S. to interfere, if we slowly start going away, I don't see why we need to stay.

P.S. Don't be offended, but I really don't like Bush.

You do not have to apologize to me or worry about me being offended for your dislike of President Bush, because ultimately that is your decision. The only problem I have is when people disrespect and undermine President Bush at the expense of the American troops. I have many friends and family overseas and I am scheduled to go over to Iraq in a couple of months. No I do not want to go and I hate it that my friends and family are stuck there but I am proud we are representing our country and our allies overseas and no many people did not invite us to get rid of an evil dictator but we also didn't invite terrorist to our country on 09/11 but they came none the less. We have ousted a dictator that was evil with foreign and domestic issues we have booted most of Al-Qaeda, violence is down and the government is slowly coming together we are winning this war we just need the support of the media and the rest of the country and we will win this.

1983: Marine barracks in Lebanon bombed by Islamic radicals, 300 troops dead.
1983: US Embassies in Kuwait bombed by Islamic radicals.
1984: US Embassy in Lebanon bombed, 24 dead.
1984: Islamic radicals hijack Kuwait Airways flight 221 and divert it to Tehran, 2 dead.

Also, the fact that the military is in Iraq has NOT stopped domestic terrorist attacks. Because of 9/11 the security of the U.S. has been "beefed up," but this and the use of military in Iraq are not correlated.

What attacks have been stopped? There weren't really attacks before 9/11.

The military is doing so much over there, they have a purpose. Also as a soldier if people there are glad they are there? My husband is in Iraq and the people there (besides the terrorists ) are actually glad that they are there. They are very kind to the soldiers and are hoping to live a life not held in fear. As for whether we should be there 9/11 proof enough. What about the attacks that have been stopped thanks to the US military, Gov't and Britian?

lindsay, I disbelieve that statistics are not too useful in the Iraq war debate. It really is a battle of ideology, and I believe Gege did not present his opinions with enough rationale and reason, nor did he directly respond to Conspicuous Conservative.

Cheers.

You're absolutely right. We tried the "it's not our problem" approach and 9/11 happened. We tried the "it's not our problem" approach before WW2 and Pearl Harbor happened.

uplade2: Thats the classic flawed arguement, "it's none of our business". Here's the problem: the problems in Iraw, and the middle east won't stay in Iraq and the middle east, they will follow us home, and attack us on US soil again. We can't risk losing another 3000 innocent civilians because we want to mind our own business.
