College Football should most definitely have a play ff system because it is the only fair way to give each team a fair chance to be crowned the best in college football. The bcs is a completely biased system and should be thrown out in its entirety. You can't just give two teams a chance at the championship and for those teams to be chosen by other coaches. So a play off system is the obvious way to go and as time has passed more and more people have been in favor of enacting a play off system. Why even our new president the honorable Barack Obama wants a playoff system as quoted in the WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama says he still thinks there needs to be a playoff system for determining the country's college football champion.

Obama, asked what he thought about Florida's 24-14 victory Thursday night over Oklahoma in the BCS championship game, congratulated the Gators and said he'd sent a message to a friend whose son plays for the team.

At the same time, he said, "If I'm Utah, or if I'm USC or if I'm Texas, I might still have some quibbles."

Obama said, "That's why we need a playoff."

I have little desire to see a true or even semi-authentic playoff system for college football. Why does there have to be an unambiguous single national champion? It would take way too long to do a proper elimination tournament as in basketball. And tournaments can have quirks just as easily as a decentralized bowl system, with a superior team having on off day or an inferior team getting a lot of turnovers or whatever and winning a game it would lose eight times out of ten. With a bunch of bowls, a lot of teams get to revel in postseason success.

Perhaps not incidentally, having a bunch of bowls -- unlikely to change because so many commercial interests are involved -- makes the college football post-season a bit more like economic competition than athletic competition. Confusion between the two is endemic. In athletics competition leads to a clear winner and a clear loser. In economic competition you don't have to have the most market share -- or whatever definition makes you Number One -- to be successful. You just have to have more revenues than expenses (or even just realistic prospects of being there next year), and the Number Seven market-share company might have the highest profit margin. It's nice to have numerous paths to success rather than a pyramid-type tourney in which only one team is the winner and the rest, no matter how much they improved or exceeded expectations, are viewed as losers

ok the con is obviously not a true college football fan if he doesn't want to see a play off system. If you want to be the best in college football you can't have off days and make turnovers that means your not the best. It's not like you would let all the teams in the NCAA in just the top 8 or 10 and that's what makes it exciting knowing that this game is win or go home. In all sporting competitions there all winners and losers and if you "exceed expectations" well good for you but you still lost. And there was absolutely no reason for the Con to start talking about economic competition that was just to fill up characters to make it look like he knows what he is talking about. The con has given you no reason to vote negative except that he doesn't want it. I have given you my view and even the view of our new President the people want it and it should happen even if just one single person doesn't want it. So you must vote for my plan to get a play off system.
