Depression should be recognized as a major mental disorder. First round is for acceptance only.

Well people could be cured from this! They call it the happy cure as long as you keep the person from being to sad they will most likely grow out of it!

Depression isn't just being sad. Depression is a state of hopelessness, anguish, fear... it's devastating and it's overwhelmingly negetively viewed. People see it as a state of weakness. People with depression are told to "snap out of it" and "just be happy." What hardly anyone seems to understand is that we can't "snap out of it" or "just be happy." We are trapped inside of our minds, and we can't find any way out. The natural coping skills we have are simply pulling us in deeper and and deeper into our depressed state. Yes, I am saying "we" and "our." I am a person with depression, and this is a topic very important to me.

What I meant was "legally recognized as a mental disability," like a mental alternative to things like blindness. People who are blind get certain waivers, like the ability to have seeing-eye dogs in a no-pets-policy apartment complex. I mean things like that.

Major Depression, Dysthymia, Seasonal Effective Disorder, Atypical Depression, Psychotic Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, Situational Depression, Substance-Induced Mood Disorder... Depression is already recognized. People suffering from depression can apply for disability income assistance and wont ever have to work.
