Con

I haven't heard a single good argument for it so someone who supports it give me some points and I'll respond
Xer

Pro

I thank my opponent for the debate, and wish him good luck.

-----Definitions-----
should - used in auxiliary function to express obligation, propriety, or expediency
http://www.merriam-webster.com...
Don't ask don't tell - is a 2002 movie directed by Doug Miles
http://www.imdb.com...
allowed - permit; to forbear or neglect to restrain or prevent
http://www.merriam-webster.com...

I am arguing that the 2002 movie "Don't ask don't tell" should be allowed (to exist). My opponent is arguing that the 2002 movie "Don't ask don't tell" should not be allowed (to exist).

My opponent obviously has a tremendous burden of proof. I can think of no good reason to not allow a movie to exist, I hope my opponent has some.

I look forward to my opponent's rebuttal.

I'm against the military policy of dont ask dont tell not banning the movie i'm sorry if i didn't make that clear. at first i named this debate should Dont ask dont tell be a law, then someone said it's not a law its a military policy so i changed the name to Should Don't ask don't tell be allowed. If you have a problem with openly gay people serving in the military then respond if not then this debate is over because i don't think we should ban the movie.
Xer

Pro

Then we agree on both matters then. I also agree that the military policy Don't ask don't tell should not be allowed. I'm glad that you agree that the movie Don't ask don't tell should be allowed.

Well... I guess the debate is over then. I win. hahahah

Con

Did you honestly think i was talking about the movie or did you just find a loophole in my question
Xer

Pro

A loophole?? Me..? What....? I may have found a "loophole" (depending on the definition) and I may not have, but that is for you to decide. Regardless, I have affirmed the resolution.

Con

this isnt a webstite where you try to win debates by finding loopholes in peoples question whats the point in that. this a website where 2 people debate a issue they disagree on. Every person that left a comment knew what i was talking about and so did you this was just a waste of a debate. Please anybody that wants to debate this issue challange me to a debate.
Xer

Pro

What loophole are you talking about? I simply thought you were talking about the movie Don't ask don't tell. You did not provide any definitions, so how am I supposed to know what you are talking about? This shall be a lesson for you about online debating.

Resolution affirmed. Vote Pro.

Arguments: CON. "I also agree that the military policy Don't ask don't tell should not be allowed." I don't see why Pro is winning, as he conceded.

Conduct: CON. "I win." Pro said that after he had already conceded.

S&G: PRO. Con made numerous errors.

The reason for the don't ask, don't tell policy in the military is so heterosexual soldiers do not have to fend off sexual advances by fellow gay soldiers, particularly in stressful wartime circumstances. It's essentially the same reason why male and female soldiers are not put in the same units. If con couldn't figure this out, he should have researched the topic and challenged as Pro, favoring the abolition of the policy. One could argue that society has changed so that fending off advances by gays is not the big deal it once was, that the policy could be redirected narrowly towards making sexual advances, etc.

DADT should be a national law. That way gays can't be discriminated if we don't know who's who and a net average of 5 heart attacks on grannies are gone when gay parades are gone.
