I think the government doesn't need to fund this because i don't want tax dollars to be wasted on this matter.

The thing is in the long run the taxes we paid would bring in a smarter work force and the more money they make the better the country does as a whole and when we go into retirement they pay taxes for our retirement.

If the government pays for each student to have a laptop it would plunge the U.S.A. into even more debt. Another thing is we set the kids up to fail if they get everything in life. So they won't know how to work hard for anything because they are given everything .

Pro

The world is getting more advanced so more and more people are using computers and some companies even provide their employees with phones and computers. That means that they will already know how to use the computer and they will perform better than people that are use to pen and paper.

But with all this technology is taking all the social skill away from kids. There grammar is declining and spelling.

Pro

While that is true technology is more eco-friendly and it brings people together. Especially if these people live in different cities, states, or even countries. Also texting is causing the decrease in literacy not the use of computers.

The things have it against technology it has stalkers and predators waiting for there next victim. Another thing it is time consuming and it will put pressure on the student to have the responsibility to handle this.

Pro

Technology, if used correctly, is completely safe and it is easier to keep then a ton of textbooks. Also you can buy a carrying case and a normal case for protection. While the student does have some pressure, they have much less than having to lug around 3-4 large and expensive textbooks. All textbooks can be put online, this save a lot of trees and habitats. Not to mention the animals that are endangered because of logging will also be saved. This will also slow and maybe, eventually, stop global warming. So in conclusion Technology is more helpful than it is harmful.

Reasons for voting decision: Certainly an interesting resolution. Neither side really refuted any arguments, save for PRO in Round 2. Both sides mainly introduced new arguments in each subsequent round. I feel PRO raised stronger points (CON made a weak case in Round 2 -the gov't shouldn't do it because I don't want them to - and the irony of using the wrong variant of "their" in Round 4 just hurts too much). Arguments go to PRO. Neither side used sources. Conduct was even.
