Hong Kong, now a part of People's Republic of China since 1997 has been a chaotic city especially in 2014 where the students of Hong Kong University with the support of Hong Kong Citizens has been protesting about the rigged elections for the Governor of Hong Kong which the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) and important businessmen elect. Since Hong Kong is not Mainland China, it is run under one country two systems has a capitalist economy and a democratic Government. however the term "Democracy" in Hong Kong is beginning to disappear with unfair elections, falun gong practitioners were detained and citizens being oppressed by the Hong Kong police. We cannot say that Hong Kong has a democratic government but a puppet state of China. Since Hong Kong and Mainland China is so different and conflicts between each other are so fierce, i recommend that Hong Kong escape the sovereignty of China and create an independent state recognized by the United Nations. If the International community wants to stop more citizens being oppressed by the communist regime, we need to recognize Hong Kong as an Independent state and give full rights to the Citizens of Hong Kong.

The tension between People's Republic of China and Hong Kong citizen is growing which is clearly stated in the protest in 2014 where Hong Kong citizens demanded that their Chief Executive to be Democratically elected. Leung Chun Ying, the current Chief Executive has been chosen by the CCP and some powerful business men related to the Chinese Communist Party which clearly states that PRC is trying to implement communist ideologies in Hong Kong. Since Hong Kong is a Special Administrative region, it falls under One country Two systems which means that Chief Executive of HK must be elected democratically. I believe that more and more protest will rise in Hong Kong which will end in violence . the People's Liberation Army will start to implement Martial Law upon Hong Kong and i believe that a similar situation of the Tien an men Massacre will happen. Hong Kong Citizens have the right to elect their leaders, have the right for freedom of speech and Free press. This will soon disappear in Hong Kong and become a totalitarian state. Citizens of HK demands that their city Hong Kong be either returned to the British Authorities or be independent recognized by the UN. Rather than being returned to Britain, i believe that Citizens of Hong Kong would prefer that they are an independent state. Now It is only a matter of time before tens and thousands of People become massacred.Even if some people think that it is impossible, at least it is worth trying. If Hong Kong becomes part of Mainland China, who knows what china will do. there are high tension in the "South China Sea" which is a clear evidence that China is starting to expand its territories and eventually turning the world to China. If Hong Kong becomes independent, this means that the long persecuted Tibet could well be independent. Independence of Hong Kong is only the beginning for ending its territorial expansions. We must not see Hong Kong as a Joke. it is a important Economical powerhouse of south Asia even more important to the US and we can finally stop China from taking over the world. If you truly believe in protecting the rights for Honk Kong Citizens, the independence of Tibet, Stopping Chinese territorial Expansions and stop any preventable blood shed then vote for an Independent Hong Kong.

It looks like we are doing all the debating in the comments instead of the actual debate page, haha. But I am not really against you so I guess I cant debate with you :D

If Hong-Kong would like to be autonomous (Referendum vote) they should be but all I am saying is that it's simply not realistic to think that China will ever allow for anything like that. And it's even more unrealistic to think that other nations will help in any meaningful manner to help Hong-Kong out.
It's sad but Hong-Kong is just too close to China in order to get away from it's influence, especially when such radical government as Communist party of China is in control.

I am afraid that you are putting to much hope in to this countries. But then again, politics are uncertain. What's true today might be false tomorrow. Presidential and government election results in other countries (especially US) will have a huge outcome on the issues in Asia.

However, even if the United Nations Human Rights Council will take a strict opposing stance on PRC abuse of power it won't change anything. UNHRC holds little to no power themselves, especially against such high profile UN member as China. Their support would mainly bow down to verbal complains and nothing beyond that.

Furthermore, even if upcoming fictional (although possible) Hong-Kong riots would be filmed by media around the world the results would most likely prove to be disappointing. It is because China is expected to do such things and so the societies around the world are not really shocked or surprised if China uses force against the protesters or if China arrests said protesters etc... It's a funny phenomenon, let me explain it to you easily.

If there is a nuclear bomb explosion in London everyone will talk about it for years to come, it will be discussed in every media around the world and will most likely never be forgotten and so on, so on... But if nukes exploded in different city, every week for 3 years straight; you would not be surprised or really concerned (unless it directly exploded in your city) about it, regardless of how many people would die because you would come to accept and expect such thing to happen.

The United Nations Security Council has nothing affiliated with the UNHRC, and i believe that the High commissioner of Human Rights in the United nations will not just simply ignore the issue since i believe that the increasing protest will catch foreign media's attention. The growing tensions in the "South China Sea" will be linked with Hong Kong's Issues which i believe that later on in the future, the United Nations General Assembly have a great chance to discuss and create resolutions on not only the conflict in the "South China Sea" but also Hong Kong. I believe that the Republic of China(Taiwan) and State of Japan will aid financially since both nations are not in a good relationship with PRC but also has an economic values to both nations and presumably other nations as well such as ROK, Vietnam, United States and so on. I recognize that this will only create tension with other nations but i don't think other countries will just allow this to continue.

Not to mention that both Russia and PRC (People's Republic of China) posses Veto powers within United Nations security council. Furthermore, the current political tension between US/Europe and Russia will only make it harder to negotiate such issues. Additionally the power struggle in Asia is becoming a serious issue, especially things like coast borders that are not respected by PRC government. When PRC is politically fighting for every little island near its borders with Japan and other nations within Asia, I fail to see how they would just blindly allow for Hong-Kong to break away from their influence. It's just isn't going to happen and nobody will support Hong-kong in their struggle since it would mean further destabilisation of already ignited region.

Thank You For your Opinion on this topic and i am fully aware of the People's Republic of China being a global economical and military power and also fully aware of that in 2047, CCP will have full occupation over Hong Kong. I believe that even though the PRC will take over, social unrest will rise where Hong Kong Citizens will not only protest, but i believe that violence will rise against the Chinese Communist Party and the same situation such as the boat people of Vietnam in the 1980s fleeing the country. I think that the human rights abuses that china will conduct will not be tolerated by the United Nations Human Rights Council and will try to maintain the One country two system.

Interesting debate topic.
As far as I know (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I am not very proficient with Chinese history), ever since the first emperor of china incorporated modern Hong-Kong regions in to imperial china, said regions remained in Chinese (or traditionally related to china forces) control for the majority of the history. It was not until the First Opium War between the British empire and Qing empire which saw Hong-Kong switching hands and becoming a regional British colony until Sino-British Joint Deceleration.

Although modern China is widely known for its human rights abuses and unjustified arrests/convictions of the ideological enemies within their country, I am not far from believing that China would be capable of rigging elections in Hong-Kong territory. But let's not forget that in Year 2047 the Chinese Peoples Republic will be allowed to throw their socialist rule over the city and they most likely will. Probably this is the only reason they have not yet taken the city by force, there is no reason to cause global political pressure if they are bound to achieve their goals. All Peoples Republic of China has to do is keep Hong-kong within its influence up until 2047 where they can simply overthrow the city and fully reconnect it with the Peoples Republic of China.

Although I would like to see Hong-Kong as an autonomous region, let's not lie to ourselves. There is no way China will ever allow for such thing in any way, shape or form. And since China remains to be a powerful global political power, no country in the region will ever support Hong-Kong struggle in fear of destroying the relationship with China. In other words, Hong-Kong is bound to fall. It's only a matter of time.
