Should junk food be Taxed? To me, this is a no brainier! The reason they would tax junk food is to stop people from eating the food that is very bad for you. Great! Now, you have allowed the government to make a decision for you. If they put a larger tax on food that is not as healthy as other choices, of coarse the people are going to go for the healthier option, not because what they want to eat is not health, but because its simply to expensive for them to buy. This is not a debate about eating healthy because of course eating healthy is alot better for you, no ones arguing that. This is about the freedom to make choices for ourselves.

Firstly, what you said is a complete opinion, and you have no facts. You are saying that the government is making choices for you, which is wrong. The government did not PREVENT you from eating junk food, it is just alarming you of the dangers of junk food. We live in a world where chronic conditions is a major problem. So, would you rather spend your money on junky food, or safe yourself from that fate? The choice is yours. You even admitted eating healthy is better for you...

1. Junk food and your brain!

Fast food is not only harming us physically, it"s making us impatient about things that have little or nothing to do with food, according to a recent study. I"m sure we"ve all been impatient a few times in our lives. Junk food may be to blame. Why? Fast food is meant to be eaten quickly, so you can get on with your lives. Even looking at a fast food logo causes you to begin rushing your mind. Of course, speed is good, but can also cause a lot of human error.

Junk food may also be a cause of depression. According to the World Health Organization, one of the biggest modern diseases is depression. Diets rich in refined grains and added sugar, were associated with greater odds of depression, the researchers from American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found. In fact, over the course of five years, people who regularly indulged in processed, high-fat and high-sugar foods were about 60% more likely to develop depression. The US Department of Defense is even going to start deliver daily nutrient-rich food parcels to a group of former soldiers, to see if it can reduce suicide rates in army veterans. The European Union launched a 9 million euro MoodFood project to discover if specific types of nutrients may influence our minds

Unhealthy diets shrink could shrink your brain! "New research has shown for the first time that the part of the brain used for learning, memory and mental health is smaller in people with unhealthy diets. The results of the study by researchers at Deakin University and the Australian National University (ANU) suggest that older Australians with unhealthy diets have smaller hippocampi - the hippocampus is a part of the brain believed to be integral to learning, memory and mental health. It has also shown that older people with healthier diets have larger hippocampi, " says Deakin University.
In extreme cases, people with damaged hippocampi are unable to retain new memories. Although the hippocampi naturally decrease in size as you age, the significant difference in hippocampal size between people with healthy and unhealthy diets may explain the sudden rise of mental health issues such as Alzheimer's diseases.
