Medicine and medical care are extremely important to the human race, whether you live in Africa, or America. They keep us out of pain and help us fight diseases to make sure we live happy, healthy lives. Everyone should have a right to this. I understand money is an issue, but there has to be other ways. Children should NOT be dying because their family cannot afford the medicine or treatments that can keep them alive. Why should your income determine whether you live or die? Not everyone can be a doctor or a lawyer. Underneath the suit or blue collar, we are all human. We all get sick and hurt. In the end, we all die. Medicine and medical treatment needs to be a universal right.

I would first like to thank you for letting me participate in this debate.

In the Declaration of Independents it states that are rights are the laws of nature, or in other words they are Abstract(existing in thought or as an idea but not having a physical or concrete existence), this means that you are born with your rights, which are Life, liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Things like food, shelter, and medicine are not a right, you are not entitled to these things, but you have the right to achieve these things through liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Medicine is concrete(existing in a material or physical form; real or solid; not abstract.). It must be either given or achieved, you are not born with it. How can medicine be a right if the only way for some people to achieve it is to force others to pay for it.

Every right should carry a responsibility with it. If you do not care about your health, why should you get free healthcare. Alchohol, smoking, bad diets , dope, all should be considered .Why should the taxpayer pay for someone's health that will eat $100.00 worth of twinkies a week.
