Con

Im against this because some people can actually pass all the teast and others because they already know what they are gonna learn. What if they can prove to them teachers thats they can get a's. this has been a debate froa long time lets get people's opinion

I disagree with you, for various reasons.

The amount of people that actually have the ability to pass every test, straight out of fifth grade is minuscule. I'm not saying its not possible, I'm saying going from fifth grade math to algebra 1 is not easy for everyone. When it comes to grammar you may be able to pass english, but being knowledgeable about Poe, required novels, and other literature is not possible in my opinion. You cannot expect a fifth grade child to be able to read into the poems Poe wrote and be able to draw on the influence that came from his life. History is also limited in elementary school. You cannot expect a fifth grader to be capable to already know the basics of the United States government. With science, the same applies. You cannot know everything. Some, but not all.

In short there is a lack of knowledge for most fifth graders. Middle school cannot be simply chosen to be taken, its like skipping an intermediate training course for a job. It's possible, but most people cannot. I think it is possible for a larger amount of people to skip a grade in middle school, but not electively. There should be a test of their abilities to prove they can.

Middle school should be mandatory for students coming from elementary school. Only a few rare exceptions can apply to skipping three grades.

Thanks for the debate.

If the 'con' could spell, I may have been swayed a little more. Unfortunately, they simply provided proof as to why 'pro' made sense.

Completly true and I entirely overlooked that.

Seriously valid part of the arguement, but he only addresses

"Passing all the tests." I'm assuming thats what 'teast' means...

And there are no tests for social skills. There should be though...

School isn't just about being educated academically. It's also about becoming qualified socially.
