I believe that PDA should be allowed in schools.

Because of ambiguity, I will define PDA as public displays of affection.

I disagree that public displays of affection should be allowed in schools.

Since my opponent has elected not to begin the debate, I will.

I do not believe that public displays of affection should be allowed in schools because there are more appropriate places to be intimate with a partner. The purpose of school is to educate young people so that they will be equipped with the tools that they need to be successful. It is my position that a couple kissing is distracting, and distractions to learning surely must be discouraged if the school is to be as effective for students as possible.

I predict a counterargument to this will point out to me that students are not always in the classroom, and that the real argument is that students should be allowed to kiss during their lunch break. I disagree that they should be allowed to do this, and here's why: equal treatment.

It would be controversial for homosexual couples to be prohibited from kissing, while heterosexual couples remain allowed. I argue that for homosexual couples' own good, they should not be allowed to kiss, because hate crimes against homosexuals are frequently triggered by a homophobic person witness intimate relations between homosexuals. I can cite a specific example, when in a national park, a man with a shotgun was peeping at two lesbians when he saw them start making out, That apparently got him angry enough to shoot at them, killing one.

So for the protection of gays and equal treatment, I disagree that PDA should be allowed in school.

I extend all arguments, and add another example of gay violence at school: the murder of Larry King.
