In my opinion, I believe that parents should not be prosecuted for missing child. we could not deny that parents have a duty to protect their children. A parent can be accused of failing to do so.
A counter argument is that no one is hurting more than the parent when a child is missing and it was an unfortunate accident

Obviously if there was no negligence whatsoever, & the incident was not preventable, the parents are not prosecuted.

But in most cases there is negligence involved, we as a society, have a jjresponsibility to protect children.

Car accidence by drunken drivers, are also accidental, & the driver is often hurting.
But the driver still must be punished, so that he & others are more careful, & don't do it again.
